Spoon Sports Side Scoops for NA1 / NA2 Honda NSX
The side intake shape of the Spoon NSX-R GT race car, made in FRP as a left and right set for every NSX
The Spoon Sports Side Scoops for NA1 and NA2 Honda NSX take their shape from the Spoon NSX-R GT race car and bring it to the road car, reworking the side intakes so they gather more air. Spoon registers them for every NSX it lists, from the first 3.0 liter NA1 of 1990 to the 3.2 liter NA2 that ran until 2005, including both NSX-R models, and Go Tuning confirms they fit all NSX model years. They are FRP and come as a left and right pair. Spoon files them under its overseas-exclusive products, offered for markets outside Japan, which makes US and Acura NSX owners a natural audience. The data behind them is thin: Spoon publishes no airflow figures, weights or mounting details, so BA treats them as a styling upgrade with race car lineage rather than a measured performance part. For an owner building an NSX in the image of the Spoon GT car, they are an affordable first step.
Spoon Sports was founded in 1988 in Suginami, Tokyo, by Tatsuru Ichishima, a former Honda race car tester and driver, with backing from Honda and Mugen. The company has raced Hondas from its first season, when Ichishima’s own Civic became the first Civic to enter the Japan Touring Car Championship, and its Type One workshop, opened in 2001, services and tunes the cars its parts are developed on. Spoon builds engine, drivetrain, exhaust, chassis and aero parts for Honda models and proves them on circuits and in endurance racing, including the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.
