Do I need the Slotted Brake Rotor for EK9 to fit Twin-Block calipers on a CR-Z?

Yes. Spoon states that a ZF1 or ZF2 CR-Z receiving the Twin-Block caliper set must change to the Slotted Brake Rotor for EK9. Order two, one for each front corner, together with the caliper set so the conversion can be completed in a single visit.

Why does Spoon use four straight slits?

Slots help clean the pad face, but they can also cause uneven pad wear and judder. Spoon cut four straight slits so that each one crosses the pad at a different angle as the disc rotates, which keeps the pad and rotor surfaces even and avoids the wear pattern a single slot angle can leave.

Will it work with the factory calipers on an EK9 or DC2?

Yes. Spoon registers the rotor for the EK9 and the 1998-on DC2 and DB8 Integra Type R without any caliper requirement, so it can replace the factory front disc. It is also the rotor those cars keep when the Spoon Twin-Block caliper is fitted.

How many rotors come with one order?

One. Spoon prices the rotor per piece and notes that a full car needs two. Spoon lists 13 kg and a box of 33 x 33 x 13 cm for the item without saying whether that is the packed weight or the disc alone.

What is the rotor made of?

Spoon makes it from high carbon material. High carbon content helps a disc absorb and shed heat more evenly, and Spoon credits the design with reducing thermal load and distortion under hard use, which in turn keeps the brake feel steady over a full session.

Description

Spoon Sports Slotted Brake Rotor for EK9 Honda Civic Type R, DC2 / DB8 Integra and ZF1 / ZF2 CR-Z

The Spoon Sports Slotted Brake Rotor for EK9 Civic Type R also fits the 1998-on DC2 and DB8 Integra Type R and the CR-Z, and on the CR-Z it is the rotor Spoon requires before its Twin-Block caliper can be fitted. Slots often bring uneven pad wear and judder with them, and Spoon designed around that. Four straight slits are cut so that each meets the pad at a different angle as the disc turns, which keeps the rotor and pad faces flat against each other and lets the pad work as intended. Spoon reports a lower thermal load at high temperature and high stress, less heat distortion of the disc and a good pedal feel. The material is high carbon, and Go Tuning lists the 5×114.3 hub pattern. For a Type R on track the rotor is a natural partner to a performance pad; for a CR-Z owner fitting Twin-Block calipers, it is simply part of the job.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
