Will the Aero Front Bumper for FK8 cause Honda Sensing errors?

Yes, it can, in the same conditions that affect the factory bumper. Spoon notes that damage around the radar area, rough roads or driving in rain may trigger Honda Sensing warnings, just as they can on a stock car. For late model cars, the Aero Front Bumper for FK8 includes a dedicated left grille panel for the radar side.

Can I keep my factory fog lights?

Yes. Spoon designed the bumper so the fog lamps fitted at the factory can be moved across and mounted in it. The factory brake ducts inside the bumper also carry over, which keeps the install simpler and means no extra lighting or ducting has to be bought to finish the car.

Does it improve cooling on track?

Yes, that was the main design goal. Spoon names cooling as the biggest weak point of the FK8 in sport driving, so the grille is opened up with resin mesh across the full face and the factory dummy side ducts become working intakes, sending more air to the radiator and intercooler during long sessions.

Does the bumper arrive painted?

No. The FRP body has a white gel coat and must be painted, while the lip is finished in carbon. Spoon recommends a UV-protective clear coat on the carbon, because sunlight can discolor it over time. Test fit the bumper before paint and let it air dry rather than heating it.

Does it fit both early and late FK8 cars?

Yes. Spoon states that the bumper suits both the early and the late FK8. Late cars, which carry the millimeter wave radar on the left of the grille, use the dedicated panel Spoon supplies in the set, so the same part number covers the full 2017 to 2021 run of the car.

Description

Spoon Sports Aero Front Bumper for FK8 Honda Civic Type R with Carbon Lip

Spoon Sports’ Aero Front Bumper for FK8 Civic Type R goes after the weakness Spoon found when the car is driven hard: cooling. The full replacement bumper opens the grille as far as the design allows and fills the whole front opening with lightweight resin mesh, and it turns the side ducts that are blanked off on the factory bumper into working mesh intakes, so more air reaches the radiator and intercooler. Room is left for an added oil cooler and intake ducting. The lip is carbon laid into the FRP and formed as one piece with the bumper, giving the smooth, step-free profile that runs through Spoon Civic aero, while the overall look keeps the energy of the factory FK8 nose. The factory brake ducts and fog lamps transfer across, and Spoon lists the set at 18 kg. It suits an FK8 that runs hot on track; for a car that never sees a circuit, the main gain is visual.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
