Which pads does the Monoblock Caliper Set for DC5 use?

It uses the S2000 factory front pad shape and size, not the DC5 pad. Go Tuning states that S2000 OEM-sized pads must be used with the Monoblock Caliper Set for DC5. That is convenient, since S2000 pads are made in many street and track compounds, but it means ordering pads by S2000 part number.

Does it fit the Acura RSX?

Yes. Spoon registers the JDM DC5 Integra Type R from 2001 to 2006, and Go Tuning, the sole US distributor for Spoon, sells this set for the Acura RSX, which shares the DC5 body. Owners of either car order the same part, and BA can help confirm brake details on a specific car.

What rotor size does it need?

Spoon rates the caliper for rotors up to 300 mm in diameter and 26 mm thick. Spoon names a dedicated larger rotor only for the CL7, DC2 and EK9 versions and lists none for the DC5. The rotor must still fall within those limits, so a car with aftermarket rotors should be measured first.

Why does lower unsprung weight matter on the DC5?

Weight at the wheel has to be controlled by the springs and dampers every time the road changes. Go Tuning says the lighter monoblock calipers let the suspension respond faster, which helps the front tires keep contact. On a front-drive car those tires also steer and put down power, so the effect is felt in turn-in.

Will the set work with the factory ABS?

Yes. Go Tuning states that the set is designed to work with the factory ABS brake system, and Spoon describes the calipers as bolt-on with the brake distribution left as it is. No ABS recalibration is listed, so the change is mechanical: calipers, brackets and hardware, then a fluid bleed.

Description

Spoon Sports Monoblock Caliper Set for DC5 Honda Integra Type R

Spoon Sports’ Monoblock Caliper Set for DC5 Integra Type R fits the front-drive K20A coupe with opposed four-piston calipers machined around a single body, and Go Tuning sells the same set for the Acura RSX. Spoon kept assembly hardware to a minimum to make each caliper as rigid and light as possible, and Go Tuning puts each one at 2.6 kg. Lower unsprung mass at the front of a front-drive car is welcome, since those wheels steer, drive and do most of the braking, and Go Tuning credits it with quicker suspension response. Differential bores across the four pistons give a smoother, more consistent pedal and reduce pad taper. The set installs with brackets and hardware supplied and works with the factory ABS. One detail matters for running costs: it takes the S2000 front pad shape, so pads are sourced for that car. This is a part for a DC5 driven on track or hard on the road.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
