Does the Carbon Plug Cover for BF1 fit the Civic e:HEV?

No. Spoon registers the Carbon Plug Cover for BF1 for the BF1 Prelude only, even though the FL4 Civic e:HEV uses the same LFC hybrid engine and shares the Spoon head cover. Until Spoon lists the Civic, BA sells it as a Prelude part and makes no Civic fitment claim.

Is it real carbon fiber?

Yes. Spoon builds the cover from carbon fiber combined with Kevlar using a newer molding method, and Go Tuning describes it as pre-preg dry carbon cured in an autoclave. That is genuine composite construction, not a printed film or a carbon-look wrap applied over a plastic shell.

Should it be paired with the Spoon head cover?

Yes, ideally. Spoon presents the plug cover and its painted head cover as a pair that gives the engine bay a racing look, the same combination owners have favored on Spoon Hondas for years. It also fits on its own with the factory head cover for a quieter result.

Is hardware included?

Yes. Go Tuning says the Prelude cover ships with the hardware needed to fit it, and Spoon sells it as a set. Fitting is a hand-tool job on a cold engine, the cover takes the place of the standard part, and no drilling or modification is involved.

Does it affect the hybrid system?

No. The cover sits over the ignition area of the LFC engine and has no connection to the hybrid drive, the battery or the engine management. It is a styling part, and Spoon makes no performance claim for it, so the Prelude drives exactly as it did before.

Description

Spoon Sports Carbon Plug Cover for BF1 Honda Prelude

The Spoon Sports Carbon Plug Cover for BF1 Prelude is one of the first Spoon parts for the new hybrid coupe, and it follows a formula Spoon owners know well: a carbon and Kevlar cover over the plugs, paired with a painted Spoon head cover, to give the engine bay a racing look. Spoon builds it with the newer method it now uses for its composite engine covers, combining carbon fiber with Kevlar for a part that is light and high in strength, and Go Tuning describes it as pre-preg dry carbon molded in an autoclave. It sits on the 2.0L LFC engine of the e:HEV drivetrain, over the ignition coils. It changes nothing about how the Prelude drives, so it suits the owner who wants the car to look as if it came from the Spoon Type One workshop rather than the showroom.

About Spoon Sports

Spoon Sports was founded in 1988 in Suginami, Tokyo, by Tatsuru Ichishima, a former Honda race car tester and driver, with backing from Honda and Mugen. The company has raced Hondas from its first season, when Ichishima’s own Civic became the first Civic to enter the Japan Touring Car Championship, and its Type One workshop, opened in 2001, services and tunes the cars its parts are developed on. Spoon builds engine, drivetrain, exhaust, chassis and aero parts for Honda models and proves them on circuits and in endurance racing, including the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
