Does the Baffle Oil Pan for AP1 fit the AP2?

Yes. Spoon registers the Baffle Oil Pan for AP1 for the 2.2L F22C in the AP2 as well as the 2.0L F20C, covering production from 1999 to 2009. That also takes in US 2004 and 2005 S2000 roadsters, which carry the 2.2L engine in the earlier body.

What problem does a baffled pan solve?

Under long, hard cornering the oil in the sump climbs the outer wall and can leave the pickup uncovered for a moment. Oil pressure dips and the pump may draw air, both of which damage bearings at high rpm. The Spoon baffle slows that movement so a reserve stays where the pickup can reach it.

Is it worth fitting to a street-driven S2000?

No, not on its own merits. On the road the factory pan copes well. The Spoon part is aimed at owners who run circuit days on grippy tires, where sustained loads are high enough to move oil around the sump. If track days are planned, fitting it early is sensible protection.

Is a gasket or sealant supplied?

No. Spoon does not list any sealing material with this pan, so buy the sealant or gasket Honda specifies for the S2000 sump before the car goes up on stands. Fresh oil and a new filter belong on the same order, since the engine is drained for the swap.

Will the pan reduce ground clearance?

No. Spoon builds the part from a new Honda pan and adds its baffle inside, so the external shape and the bolt pattern remain factory. Ride height and clearance under the sump stay exactly as they were, which matters on a lowered S2000 that already sits close to the road.

Description

Spoon Sports Baffle Oil Pan for AP1 / AP2 Honda S2000

Spoon Sports’ Baffle Oil Pan for AP1 / AP2 S2000 addresses the one weakness a well-driven S2000 can expose on a circuit: oil moving away from the pickup when the car holds hard cornering, braking or acceleration for long stretches. Spoon takes a new genuine Honda pan for the F20C and F22C and adds a baffle plate of its own design, keeping a reserve of oil where the pump can reach it so pressure holds and no air is drawn in. Spoon registers the part for every S2000 in its records, from the first 1999 AP1 to the last 2009 AP2, so it suits both engines. Listed at 5.5 kg, it bolts up in place of the factory sump. For a roadster that only sees weekend roads it is optional; for one that runs track days on R-compound or semi-slick tires, it is among the first engine parts worth fitting.

Built From a Honda Pan

Starting from a new Honda pan means the bolt pattern and the shape under the car are the factory ones, so nothing changes about clearance or routine service. What Spoon adds is inside: a baffle plate shaped for this sump that slows oil from surging to the outer wall as the car loads up through a long corner.

Features

Brand-new genuine Honda S2000 oil pan
Spoon baffle plate engineered for this sump
Reduces oil surge in long, high-load corners
Helps hold oil pressure and keep air out of the pickup

Notes

Spoon registers both the F20C and the F22C, so the Baffle Oil Pan for AP1 also suits US 2004 and 2005 cars with the 2.2L engine
Spoon does not list a gasket or sealant with this part; source the sealing material Honda specifies before installation
Engine oil and filter are not included

Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
