Which Prelude does the Driveshaft Set for BF1 fit?

Spoon registers the Driveshaft Set for BF1 for the sixth-generation Prelude with the 2.0L LFC e:HEV hybrid, as sold in Japan from September 2025. A US version followed for the 2026 model year, but Go Tuning, the sole US distributor for Spoon, has not yet listed the set for it.

Why would a hybrid need upgraded driveshafts?

The electric motor in the e:HEV system delivers strong torque from a standstill, and in a front-drive car that torque passes through joints that are also turning with the steering. Spoon found in racing that those joints are where failures begin, so it polishes them and uses grease rated for high heat and pressure to keep them running smoothly.

What is mirror finishing?

It is polishing the working surfaces inside each joint until the fine machining scratches are gone. Under steady drive torque those scratches act as stress points where cracks start, leading to breakage or seizure. Spoon also removes burrs from each part, so the finished joint has no obvious starting point for a crack and moves with less resistance.

Is the set suited to circuit driving?

Yes. Spoon chose the joint grease for its heat resistance and extreme-pressure performance specifically so the shafts tolerate high-load use such as track days. Combined with the polished joints, that makes the set a logical part of a Prelude being prepared for the circuit, while a car used only on the road gains mainly in smoothness.

How long does the set take to build?

Spoon makes each set to order, with a factory lead time of about three to four weeks before it leaves Japan. Spoon has not yet published a weight or shipping box size for the BF1 set. Plan the fitting around a service visit, since the wait is measured in weeks rather than days.

Description

Spoon Sports Driveshaft Set for BF1 Honda Prelude

Spoon Sports’ Driveshaft Set for BF1 Prelude carries the driveshaft work Spoon developed in racing over to the sixth-generation coupe, launched in Japan in September 2025 with a 2.0-litre e:HEV hybrid drivetrain. A front-drive shaft has a hard job: it must carry torque to the wheel while also steering through large joint angles, and Spoon’s race cars showed that the joints were where trouble started. Spoon’s answer is a mirror finish inside each joint. Raw machined metal is covered in fine scratches, and under constant torque those concentrate stress, start cracks and end in breakage or seizure. Spoon removes the burrs and polishes them out, then packs the joints with grease chosen for heat resistance and extreme-pressure performance so they survive circuit use. With an electric motor that delivers its torque from a standstill, durable, low-friction joints make sense on a Prelude headed for track days; for one that only commutes, the factory shafts will be fine.

Spoon Sports was founded in 1988 in Suginami, Tokyo, by Tatsuru Ichishima, a former Honda race car tester and driver, with backing from Honda and Mugen. The company has raced Hondas from its first season, when Ichishima’s own Civic became the first Civic to enter the Japan Touring Car Championship, and its Type One workshop, opened in 2001, services and tunes the cars its parts are developed on. Spoon builds engine, drivetrain, exhaust, chassis and aero parts for Honda models and proves them on circuits and in endurance racing, including the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
