Does the Exhaust Pipe-B for GD1 fit the US Fit?

Yes. The 2007 and 2008 US Fit is the GD3 chassis, and Go Tuning, the sole US distributor for Spoon, lists the Exhaust Pipe-B for GD1 and GD3 cars from 2001 to 2008. Spoon registers the GD3 in Japan with both the CVT and the 5-speed manual.

Do I need the Spoon tail silencer as well?

No. The rear flange is built to the factory standard, so the pipe works with the original Fit muffler. Spoon does intend it to be paired with its own tail silencer, saying the combination is lighter and adds power and torque, so an owner planning both parts gets the system Spoon designed.

What is different from the factory mid pipe?

The main difference is silencer placement. Spoon moved the silencer within the pipe as far forward as possible, where hotter gas makes it work harder, and says this steadies exhaust pressure for better efficiency. Spoon does not publish a pipe diameter for the GD version, so BA lists none.

Is the pipe large to ship and fit?

Yes. Spoon packs it in a box of 162 x 70 x 17 cm and lists it at 10 kg, so it is bulkier than the silencer. Installation is bolt-on at both flanges, but a lift or tall ramps and a helper make lining it up much easier, and new gaskets are worth fitting.

Will it change the sound much?

Spoon publishes no sound data for the pipe alone. Its forward silencer is there to keep noise in check, so the tail silencer fitted behind it does most to set the tone: the factory muffler keeps things mild, while the Spoon N1 Tail Silencer brings the racier voice Spoon describes for that part.

Description

Spoon Sports Exhaust Pipe-B for GD1 / GD3 Honda Fit

The Spoon Sports Exhaust Pipe-B for GD1 and GD3 Fit is the middle section of a Spoon exhaust for the first-generation car, running from the front pipe back to the tail silencer on L13A and L15A models with manual or CVT gearboxes. Spoon placed the silencer inside the pipe as far forward as the underbody allows, because silencing improves as gas temperature rises, and says the layout steadies exhaust pressure and raises exhaust efficiency. Combined with the Spoon N1 Tail Silencer for the same car, it forms a lighter system that Spoon credits with more power and torque, without quoting figures. The rear flange matches the factory standard, so the stock muffler can stay for now. Listed at 10 kg, it makes most sense as part of a full Spoon exhaust on a Fit that is driven for fun.

About Spoon Sports

Spoon Sports was founded in 1988 in Suginami, Tokyo, by Tatsuru Ichishima, a former Honda race car tester and driver, with backing from Honda and Mugen. The company has raced Hondas from its first season, when Ichishima’s own Civic became the first Civic to enter the Japan Touring Car Championship, and its Type One workshop, opened in 2001, services and tunes the cars its parts are developed on. Spoon builds engine, drivetrain, exhaust, chassis and aero parts for Honda models and proves them on circuits and in endurance racing, including the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
