How loud is the N1 Muffler Kit for FK8?

Spoon recorded 91 dB in the close-proximity test and 78 dB in the acceleration test, and the kit holds Japanese JQR certification. The N1 Muffler Kit for FK8 is clearly louder than stock under load, with the deep, round tone of the large bullet silencers, yet it settles down at a steady cruise.

Does the Type R need a tune after fitting it?

No. The kit fits a stock FK8 and Spoon lists no supporting parts. The 70 mm front pipe is there because Spoon found, while developing its own ECU calibration, that more boost needs more front pipe flow, so a later tune can use the full system without further exhaust changes.

How does it compare with the factory exhaust?

The muffler weighs 20.5 kg against 22.5 kg for the factory part, the pipe is 70 mm stainless with no narrowing at the joints, and the tail changes to two large bullet silencers. Spoon publishes no power gain for a stock car, so the clearest differences are sound, weight and flow headroom.

Will the kit fit the newer FL5 Type R?

No. The FK8 kit is registered for the 2017 to 2021 Type R only. Spoon developed a separate N1 kit for the FL5, which drops the valve system of that car and uses its own pipe routing, so the two systems are not interchangeable even though they share the dual bullet look.

Should a shop install it?

Yes. The system arrives as long front and main sections in a carton measuring 145 x 41 x 85 cm, and Spoon lists the packed kit at 32 kg. Two people and a lift make it far easier to support the pipes, align the hangers and centre the twin tips in the rear bumper.

Description

Spoon Sports N1 Muffler Kit for FK8 Honda Civic Type R

The Spoon Sports N1 Muffler Kit for FK8 Honda Civic Type R is built on a straight-through principle: Spoon took out every narrowing at the flange joints, so the 70 mm SUS304 stainless pipe keeps its full bore from the front section to the tips. The FK8 already makes 320 PS and 400 Nm in Japanese specification, and Spoon ran test after test to lift output across the rev range without dulling the strong mid-range torque and sharp response that define the car. The tail carries the 145 mm bullet-shaped dual silencers that have become the emblem of the N1 name, finished with 70 mm tips. Spoon was writing ECU calibrations alongside the exhaust and found that a boost increase needs a larger front pipe as well, so a 70 mm front pipe is part of the set. A tuned FK8 or one bound for circuit days gets the most from it; on a stock commuter the gains are the sound and a 2 kg saving rather than a different engine.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
