Which brake packages suit the GiroDisc Front Rotors for Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE?

The GiroDisc Front Rotors for Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE work with the factory 1LE front brake package on the 6th Gen car. GiroDisc also lists them for base cars that have been upgraded with the Chevrolet Performance brake kit. Other Camaro front brake setups need a different part.

Will the 1LE rotors keep the factory brake bias and ABS?

Yes. The rotors are a direct replacement for the original discs and use the factory calipers, so the brake bias and ABS efficiency Chevrolet calibrated are kept. A big brake kit, by comparison, changes both rotor and caliper and can upset that balance.

How does the floating 1LE ring stay quiet on the street?

Anti-noise spring washers sit on the rotor side of each of the twelve drive pins. They allow the iron ring to expand as it heats but hold it firmly enough to stop the rattle associated with floating discs when the brakes are cold.

What happens when the 1LE front rings wear?

The hats are reused and only the iron is replaced. Rings should be changed at the minimum thickness marked on the hat and ring edge, or if a crack reaches the ring edge. Contact us with your rotor part number and we will supply the matching GiroDisc ring set.

Can the Camaro 1LE front rotors be swapped side to side?

No. GiroDisc builds left and right versions because the curved vanes must turn in one direction to pump air outward. Each rotor is labeled for its corner, and fitting one on the wrong side reduces cooling, so check the markings before the calipers go back on.

Description

GiroDisc Front Rotors for Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE 6th Gen

GiroDisc’s Front Rotors for Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE cars of the 6th Gen are built around the factory 1LE front brake package, and GiroDisc confirms they also suit base cars upgraded with the Chevrolet Performance brake kit. Each assembly bolts on in place of the original disc, keeping the stock calipers, brake bias and ABS calibration. The ring is GiroDisc’s own USA-poured iron, slotted and vaned, floating on a 6061-T6 aluminum hat. For a 1LE that spends its weekends on track, it is the logical next step after tires and fluid.

Design and Performance

Twelve high-strength alloy steel drive pins, made and cadmium plated by GiroDisc, carry braking torque from ring to hat while letting the ring float axially and radially as it heats. Anti-noise spring washers on the rotor side stop cold rattle. Curved vanes developed in racing act as a centrifugal pump, so the faster the wheel turns, the more air the disc moves.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
