Which vehicles does the Standard Alignment Lower Control Arm fit?

COBB confirms the Standard Alignment Lower Control Arm for the 2015 to 2021 VA WRX sedan with the 6-speed manual or CVT, and for the 2015 to 2021 WRX STI sedan, including the 2018 Type RA and the 2019 S209. Both USDM and Australian market cars appear in the confirmed list. The 2022 and newer VB WRX is not covered.

Does this arm change caster or other alignment settings?

No. The rear bushing stays on the standard centerline, so caster and the position of the strut base are unchanged from stock. Your existing alignment targets still apply. If you want additional positive caster, COBB sells an Offset Caster version with the same alloy body and bushings that adds about 0.5 degree per side.

Why choose standard alignment over offset caster?

Choose standard alignment when the car already has caster adjustment through coilover top mounts or camber plates, when you have a proven alignment setup you do not want to disturb, or when you prefer the factory steering weight. You still get the lower unsprung weight and the stiffer 94a bushings, which deliver most of the handling gain on their own.

Should I get an alignment after installing them?

Yes. Even though the geometry matches stock, removing and refitting front suspension components can shift toe and camber slightly. A quick alignment check after the arms are installed and the vehicle has settled on its springs keeps tire wear even and makes sure the steering wheel sits straight. No tuning or Accessport is needed for this part.

Can I use these arms on an emissions-tested vehicle?

Yes. COBB classifies the arm as a part that is not emissions-related, so it can be used on emission controlled vehicles, including those registered in California, and no CARB Executive Order is required. It affects only suspension geometry and weight and does not touch the engine, intake, exhaust or engine management.

Description

COBB Tuning Front Standard Alignment Lower Control Arm for VA Subaru WRX / WRX STI

COBB Tuning’s Standard Alignment Lower Control Arm replaces the factory steel front LCA on a 2015-2021 VA WRX or WRX STI with an alloy piece that keeps Subaru’s alignment geometry exactly where the factory set it. It suits an owner with a dialed alignment or coilovers that already adjust caster. The gain comes from less unsprung weight at each front corner and 94a durometer bushings that hold the wheel more precisely than soft OEM rubber. Drivers chasing extra caster should look at the Offset Caster version instead.

Design and Performance

COBB aims this arm at a WRX that handles better than a stock STI, without moving the wheel. The rear bushing sits on its standard centerline, so the knuckle and strut base stay put and normal alignment specifications apply. Less unsprung weight lets the damper react faster over ripples, and the firmer bushings reduce deflection under braking and cornering, so this standard alignment lower control arm brings cleaner turn-in and steadier mid-corner behavior.

Features

Alloy arm body that COBB rates as stronger than factory steel
Retains the standard Subaru alignment geometry
94a durometer bushings for improved tire contact patch control
Lower unsprung mass for quicker damper response
Minimal NVH and long service life per COBB
Built for street driving as well as track sessions

Applications

Subaru WRX: VA | 2015-2021 | Sedan, 6-speed manual and CVT
Subaru WRX STI: VA | 2015-2021 | Sedan, 6-speed manual, including the 2018 Type RA and 2019 S209

Notes

Have the alignment checked after installation
This version keeps factory caster; choose the Offset Caster arm for about 0.5 degree more per side
Not an emissions-related part per COBB
Sedan applications only, as listed under Applications

About COBB Tuning

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. In 2004 COBB introduced the Accessport, a handheld ECU tuning device that flashes COBB’s off-the-shelf maps or a custom tune and doubles as a real-time gauge and datalogger. The range has since grown from Subaru to Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Toyota platforms, with intakes, intercoolers, exhausts and flex fuel kits engineered alongside the tuning, and many COBB parts carry California Air Resources Board Executive Order numbers for use in all 50 states.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
