Will the Offset Caster Lower Control Arm fit my 2019 WRX?

Yes. COBB confirms the Offset Caster Lower Control Arm for every 2015 to 2021 VA WRX sedan, with either the 6-speed manual or the CVT, and for the 2015 to 2021 WRX STI including the 2018 Type RA and the 2019 S209. The 2022 and newer VB WRX is not on the confirmed application list.

What is the difference between the offset caster and standard alignment versions?

Both arms use the same alloy body and 94a durometer bushings. On the offset caster version the center of the rear bushing is moved inboard, which swings the arm forward and moves the strut base forward for about 0.5 degree of added positive caster per side. The standard alignment version keeps the factory geometry, so alignment specs remain unchanged from stock.

Why would I want more positive caster on a WRX?

More positive caster adds steering weight and self-centering, improves straight-line stability at speed, and increases dynamic camber gain as the wheel is turned, which helps the outside front tire hold grip mid-corner. COBB built roughly 0.5 degree per side into the rear bushing, giving those gains without adjustable caster plates or slotted mounts.

Do I need an alignment after installing these arms?

Yes. Any time front lower control arms are replaced, the alignment should be checked, and this version changes caster by design, so toe and camber will need to be reset afterward. Book a four-wheel alignment once the arms are in and the vehicle has settled on its suspension.

Is the arm legal to install in California?

Yes. COBB lists this as a part that is not emissions-related, so it can be used on emission controlled vehicles and needs no CARB Executive Order. It changes only suspension geometry and weight, never the engine, and needs no tuning or Accessport.

Description

COBB Tuning Front Offset Caster Lower Control Arm for VA Subaru WRX / WRX STI

COBB Tuning’s Offset Caster Lower Control Arm is the front LCA for owners of a 2015-2021 VA WRX or WRX STI who want sharper turn-in. The alloy arm is stronger than the factory steel according to COBB, and the rear bushing assembly is offset so the arm sweeps slightly forward, adding roughly 0.5 degree of positive caster per side. That extra caster is the reason to pick this version: more steering weight and better stability at speed. If you would rather keep factory alignment geometry, the Standard Alignment version is the one to buy.

Design and Geometry

COBB shifts the center of the rear bushing assembly inboard, which pushes the rear pivot of this offset caster lower control arm outboard. The arm angles forward a touch, moving the knuckle and the strut base forward and building positive caster into the suspension without adjustable hardware. The alloy body cuts unsprung weight, and COBB says the result is a WRX that handles better than a stock STI.

Features

Lightweight alloy arm that COBB rates as stronger than the original steel
Offset rear bushing adds roughly 0.5 degree of positive caster per side
94a durometer bushings for tighter tire contact patch control
Reduced unsprung weight at each front corner
Low NVH and long service life according to COBB
Suited to both track days and daily street driving

Applications

Subaru WRX: VA | 2015-2021 | Sedan, 6-speed manual and CVT
Subaru WRX STI: VA | 2015-2021 | Sedan, 6-speed manual, including the 2018 Type RA and 2019 S209

Notes

Have a four-wheel alignment performed after installation, since caster changes with this arm
This version alters caster; choose the Standard Alignment arm to keep factory geometry
Not an emissions-related part per COBB
Sedan applications only, as listed under Applications

About COBB Tuning

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. In 2004 COBB introduced the Accessport, a handheld ECU tuning device that flashes COBB’s off-the-shelf maps or a custom tune and doubles as a real-time gauge and datalogger. The range has since grown from Subaru to Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Toyota platforms, with intakes, intercoolers, exhausts and flex fuel kits engineered alongside the tuning, and many COBB parts carry California Air Resources Board Executive Order numbers for use in all 50 states.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
