Is the Power Package for Subaru Outback legal in California?

Yes. The package carries California Air Resources Board Executive Orders D-660-247 and D-660-321, so it is legal for sale and use on emissions controlled vehicles in all 50 states when installed according to the COBB application guide. No separate California version is needed.

Does this package fit the Subaru Ascent and Legacy as well?

Yes. COBB confirms fitment for the 2019 through 2022 Ascent, the 2020 through 2022 Legacy XT and Outback XT, and the 2022 Outback Wilderness, all with the CVT and all USDM. Vehicles from 2023 onward are not on the confirmed list.

Which fuel should I run with the Stage 1 maps?

COBB offers Stage 1 off-the-shelf maps for both 87 octane or higher and 93 octane. On the Ascent dyno chart the 93 octane map produced the larger peak gains, 11 percent horsepower and 16 percent torque, so owners with access to 93 octane will see the most from the Power Package for Subaru Outback and its siblings.

Can I return the vehicle to stock before a dealer visit?

Yes. The Uninstall option in the Accessport main menu reverts the ECU to exactly how it was before tuning. Keeping the factory air filter in the garage means the High Flow Filter can be swapped back out too, leaving the vehicle fully stock.

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 on the Outback?

Stage 1 combines the Accessport V3 with the High Flow Filter and suits all four listed models. The Stage 2 package, offered for the 2020 through 2022 Outback XT and 2022 Wilderness, adds an intake tube, a top mount intercooler in black or silver, an aluminum charge pipe kit and a COBB vehicle badge.

Description

COBB Tuning Stage 1 Power Package for Subaru Outback XT, Legacy XT and Ascent

COBB Tuning’s Power Package for Subaru Outback, Legacy and Ascent puts the AP3-SUB-005 Accessport V3 and the 716110 High Flow Filter in one box, a Stage 1 calibration and matched filter for the turbocharged 2019-2022 models. CARB Executive Orders D-660-247 and D-660-321 make it street legal in every state. It suits a daily driver that needs sharper response on pump fuel without new hardware; Outback owners set on a larger intercooler should price Stage 2 instead.

Tuning and Dyno Results

The in-cabin Accessport V3 flashes COBB off-the-shelf Stage 1 maps for 87 and 93 octane, or a custom map from a COBB tuner, and adds realtime tuning and idle adjustment on Subaru models. COBB publishes the Stage 1 dyno chart for this Power Package for Subaru Outback, Legacy and Ascent from an Ascent test vehicle: on 93 octane, peak gains of 11 percent horsepower and 16 percent torque; on 87 octane or higher, 8 percent horsepower and 4 percent torque.

About COBB Tuning

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. In 2004 COBB introduced the Accessport, a handheld ECU tuning device that flashes COBB’s off-the-shelf maps or a custom tune and doubles as a real-time gauge and datalogger. The range has since grown from Subaru to Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Toyota platforms, with intakes, intercoolers, exhausts and flex fuel kits engineered alongside the tuning, and many COBB parts carry California Air Resources Board Executive Order numbers for use in all 50 states.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. In short, prices may change without notice. It is always advised to give us a call prior to placing your order online to confirm availability and to confirm current pricing.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
