What horsepower are the GESI Catted Downpipes for F90 rated for?

GESI rates the UHO-series converters in the GESI Catted Downpipes for F90 BMW M5, F9X M8 and F95 / F96 X5 M / X6 M for engines making 500 to 850 horsepower. That range covers an S63 well beyond factory output. The AFlow version is rated up to 800 horsepower and costs less.

Is a tune required after installing these downpipes?

No. Active Autowerke sells this set as needing no performance tune, and the S63 runs on factory software with the GESI converters fitted. Owners who choose the GESI version usually plan a tune or turbo upgrade, because that is when the higher converter rating becomes useful.

Will GESI catted downpipes set a check engine light on an M5?

No. Active Autowerke states that the GESI converters in this set will not set a catalyst efficiency fault. The 400 cell metallic substrate reaches working efficiency within 9 seconds of startup, and the converters are EPA registered and OBD2 compliant, so the onboard monitors keep reporting normally.

Do these downpipes include the mid-pipe section?

Yes. Active Autowerke designs its S63 downpipes to include the lower section that other suppliers sell separately as a mid-pipe. The set therefore connects straight to the factory exhaust, and one purchase replaces all of the restrictive pipework directly behind the turbos.

Will the downpipes fit an X5 M or X6 M as well as the M5?

Yes. Active Autowerke lists this set for the F90 M5, the M8 and the X5 M and X6 M, which share the twin-turbo S63 V8 and its downpipe layout. Installation is a bolt-on job on each vehicle, and the factory oxygen sensor heat shield carries over.

Description

Active Autowerke GESI Catted Downpipes for F90 BMW M5, F9X M8 and F95 / F96 X5 M / X6 M

Active Autowerke’s GESI Catted Downpipes for F90 BMW M5, F9X M8 and F95 / F96 X5 M / X6 M are the high-output choice for BMW’s twin-turbo S63 V8, with a 4.5 inch GESI G-Sport UHO-series converter in each bank rated for 500 to 850 horsepower. Built in-house in Miami from TIG welded 304 stainless, each downpipe bolts to its turbo through a factory-matched 3.5 inch V-band and continues through the lower section usually sold as a separate mid-pipe. An S63 with upgraded turbos or a serious tune is where this set belongs. For an engine that stays near factory output, the AFlow Catted Downpipes share the same pipework for less.

Construction

From the 3.5 inch inlet the pipe tapers into a mandrel bent body, which keeps the cross-section consistent through each bend and the exhaust moving freely away from the turbines. The design leaves room for the original oxygen sensor heat shield, so a GESI-equipped M5 or X5 M can keep a factory-looking engine bay.

Features

Pair of 4.5 inch GESI G-Sport UHO-series high flow converters
EPA registered and OBD2 compliant
Full 304 stainless converter construction with the substrate furnace brazed to the mantle
400 cpsi catalyst, rated to 1500F and efficient within 9 seconds of startup
GESI proprietary precious metal loading for reduced emissions
Lower pipe section included, connecting directly to the factory exhaust
TIG welded 304 stainless steel, made in Miami, Florida
Bolt-on installation with no cutting, welding or tune required

Applications

BMW M5: F90 | 2018-2024 | 4.4L S63
BMW M8: F91 / F92 / F93 | 2020-2025 | 4.4L S63
BMW X5 M: F95 | 2020-present | 4.4L S63
BMW X6 M: F96 | 2020-present | 4.4L S63

Notes

The GESI Catted Downpipes for F90 run through the lower pipe section, so no separate mid-pipe is required
Shell and tube-end warranty runs 5 years or 50,000 miles and the catalytic core warranty 2 years or 25,000 miles, original purchaser only. Burble tuned beyond stock voids the core warranty.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
