Does the AFlow Catted X-Pipe for E90 need a tune?

No. Active Autowerke sells the AFlow Catted X-Pipe for E90 / E92 / E93 BMW M3 as needing no performance tune, and its claim that the converters will not set a catalyst efficiency code applies on the factory software. The measured gains of more than 10 wheel horsepower were recorded without one.

Will it work with my aftermarket exhaust?

Yes, in most cases. Active Autowerke designed the X-pipe to bolt to the factory rear section and to most aftermarket exhaust systems and mufflers through factory-style flanges, with no cutting, welding or modification. The largest measured gain came with the Active Autowerke Signature exhaust fitted behind it.

How much weight does the X-pipe save?

Active Autowerke puts the X-pipe at under 30 lb against more than 40 lb for the factory BMW part, a saving of over 10 lb carried low in the chassis. The reduction comes from brushed 304 stainless construction and a simpler crossover.

Do I also need the Sport Cats Upgrade?

No. This X-pipe ships with its two AFlow converters already fitted in the connecting pipes. The separate Sport Cats Upgrade exists for owners who already run an earlier Active Autowerke Signature X-pipe and want to add a pair of converters to it without replacing the whole assembly.

Is the install difficult?

Active Autowerke describes it as a true bolt-on that most owners can perform. The X-pipe and connecting pipes use factory-style flanges, so the work is unbolting the stock section and fitting the new one, and a lift makes it far easier.

Description

Active Autowerke AFlow Catted X-Pipe for E90 / E92 / E93 BMW M3

Active Autowerke’s AFlow Catted X-Pipe for E90 / E92 / E93 BMW M3 takes the place of the factory X-pipe on the S65 V8 with a lighter 304 stainless assembly shaped to scavenge each bank, and it keeps a flat Active AFlow converter in each connecting pipe. On Active Autowerke’s Mustang chassis dyno it added more than 10 wheel horsepower over the stock BMW exhaust, and more than 12 with its Signature exhaust behind it. With each converter rated for 300 to 500 horsepower, the AFlow version covers a naturally aspirated M3 with margin, which makes it better value than the GESI Catted X-Pipe for most owners.

Design and Performance

The X-pipe merges the two banks of the 4.0 liter V8 at a crossover, so each exhaust pulse helps draw gas from the opposite bank. Factory-style flanges at both ends let it bolt to the BMW rear section or most aftermarket mufflers without cutting, welding or a tune.

Features

Two flat Active AFlow super high flow converters, EPA registered and OBD2 compliant
Active Autowerke states it will not set a catalyst efficiency check engine light
Brushed 304 stainless steel, TIG welded throughout
Factory-style flanges at both ends
Made in Miami, Florida

BMW M3: E93 | 2008-2013 | 4.0L S65

Notes

The AFlow Catted X-Pipe for E90 already includes its converters, so the separate AFlow Sport Cats Upgrade is only for owners who bought an earlier Signature X-pipe
Dyno gains were measured by Active Autowerke on its own Mustang chassis dyno, once with the stock BMW exhaust and once with its Signature exhaust fitted
Warranty is 1 year on the exhaust, 5 years or 50,000 miles on the converter shells and tube ends, and 2 years or 25,000 miles on the catalytic cores, for the original purchaser. Excess burble from a tune voids the core warranty.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
