Do the Endless Brake Pads for W222 S65 suit the ceramic brake option?

No. The Endless Brake Pads for W222 S65 sedans here are for the iron-rotor brakes. Mercedes offered an AMG ceramic high-performance composite system for the S65, with 420mm front discs, and a car with that option takes different pads. A photo of the front brakes sent to Bulletproof Automotive settles the question before you order.

Are these the same pads as the W222 S63?

Yes. Endless lists EIP162 at the front and EIP255 at the rear for the W222 S63 AMG from 2014 to 2019 and for the S65 from 2015 to 2019, so the sets are interchangeable between the V8 and V12 sedans. Each car has its own listing so the years and applications shown match the model being searched for.

Which Endless compound gives the S65 the best road manners?

SSM Plus for the quietest, cleanest running, with braking that comes in progressively as pedal pressure rises. MX72 is the better choice for an owner who drives the V12 hard, as Endless gives it strong friction at low temperatures while still keeping noise and dust to a minimum. CC-Rg is louder on the road and better left to track cars.

What should an S65 run for circuit days?

MX72 Plus for occasional days on street tires; Endless rates it to 750C, or 1382F, with a consistent release from the pedal. Frequent laps call for CC-Rg, rated to 800C, or 1472F, with strong bite even before it is warm. MA45B is offered at both axles for endurance racing, where stability over a long race matters more than outright bite.

Do I need to bed in Endless racing pads on an S65?

Yes. Every racing option, from the Racing Group to W003, S330 and MA45B, needs the Endless bedding procedure before hard use. At 70 to 80 percent of normal pedal effort, take the rotors up step by step to 400C, or 752F, then let them cool below 150C, or 302F. Do it on a warm-up lap rather than in the first fast session.

Endless Brake Pads for W222 Mercedes-AMG S65

Endless’s Brake Pads for W222 Mercedes-AMG S65 are for the long-wheelbase V12 sedan that Mercedes unveiled at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show and built until 2019, the year of the 130-car S 65 Final Edition. Endless lists it for 2015 to 2019 with EIP162 at the front, a shape its spec sheet references to the Audi RS6, and EIP255 at the rear, which Endless names after the W222 S63. Mercedes also offered the S65 with optional AMG ceramic brakes on 420mm front discs; those cars take other pads, and this listing is for the iron-rotor brakes. For a road-driven S65, MX72 is where we would start.

Features

Endless pad shapes EIP162 front and EIP255 rear, listed for the 2015 to 2019 S65 AMG
SSM Plus, MX72, MX72 Plus and CC-Rg street and street-to-track compounds
Eighteen racing compounds, with MA45B offered at the front and the rear
A Front set, a Rear set or a Front and Rear Set in every compound

Choosing a Compound

An S65 used for long, fast journeys suits MX72, which Endless designs for strong bite from cold with little dust or noise. SSM Plus is the quieter, cleaner choice for town use, and SSS is not priced for these shapes. MX72 Plus and CC-Rg are the circuit compounds, CC-Rg for an S65 on track most months, and the racing compounds suit a prepared car. W007 and W008, which Endless prices for these shapes, are left off because Endless designs both for carbon ceramic rotors, and S65s with the optional ceramic brakes take different pads.

Every figure below is Endless’s own. Friction is the compound’s average friction coefficient, so a higher number gives more bite for the same pedal pressure. The rotor range is the band of rotor temperatures Endless designs the compound to work in, so choose by the temperatures your car will see.

Street and street-to-track compounds

SSM Plus (street): non-asbestos; friction 0.33-0.40; rotor range 0-550C (32-1022F). Low dust, low noise and long life. Braking builds with pedal pressure rather than a sharp first bite, for drivers who want clean wheels and a quiet car.
MX72 (street to light track): ceramic carbon metal; friction 0.37-0.47; rotor range 50-700C (122-1292F). Minimal noise and dust, strong friction at low temperatures, reduced rotor wear and a better pedal feel than a typical semi-metallic pad. Endless’s dual-duty compound for a road car that sees the occasional track day.
MX72 Plus (street to circuit): ceramic carbon metal; friction 0.39-0.47; rotor range 50-750C (122-1382F). Holds its braking force to higher temperatures than MX72, with stable control and a consistent pedal release. Endless aims it at cars on street tires that run on track.
CC-Rg (track day, street capable): ceramic carbon metal; friction 0.38-0.45; rotor range 50-800C (122-1472F). High initial bite across a wide temperature range, even when cold, and modulation that works with the factory ABS under hard use. Endless notes it is noisy on the street; it is the step up from MX72 Plus for regular track days.

Racing compounds

Each option below is one choice in the Choose Compound menu. For a group, name your compound in the order notes and Bulletproof Automotive confirms it with your order. Every racing compound needs Endless’s bedding procedure: at 70 to 80 percent of normal pedal effort, bring the rotors gradually to 400C (752F), then let them cool below 150C (302F) before hard use.

Racing Group

ME22: dual braking style; friction 0.33-0.38; rotor range 150-800C (302-1472F). Developed from ME20 with lower friction for control, for light to mid-weight cars or heavier cars on slower circuits. Endless rates it for street and track.
ME20: trail-braking style; rotor range 150-800C (302-1472F). High, stable friction at high temperature with low wear, developed for touring cars and rally. Works front or rear, with stock or racing ABS.
N35S: trail-braking style; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). Quick, sharp and responsive, with stable modulation under high temperature and load. Endless’s flagship rally compound, also run in FIA GT, and its suggested starting point for drivers new to Endless racing pads.
N05U: trail-braking style; friction 0.46-0.53; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). More bite than N35S, popular in sprint-focused Porsche Cup cars.
N05S: trail-braking style; friction 0.45-0.53; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). Immediate high friction with little pedal effort, used in Japanese rally cars without brake boosters and in European and Australian sprint racing.
N30C: friction 0.50-0.60; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). High initial bite, gentle on rotors and low wear. A rally compound for cars without a brake booster.
MS20: friction 0.32-0.38; rotor range 150-800C (302-1472F). A low-friction rear pad with a flat torque curve and long life, for club racing cars.
MS25: friction 0.36-0.42; rotor range 150-800C (302-1472F). Warms up gradually even under heavy braking. Endless pairs it with a higher-friction pad to prevent lock-up.
MS35: friction 0.45-0.53; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). Mid to high initial bite with good modulation and control, a sprint pad for a wide range of conditions.
ML20A: friction 0.30-0.33; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). A rear compound with lower initial bite to prevent rear lock-up, for lightweight GT cars.
ML35A: friction 0.30-0.38; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). Slightly lower friction with excellent modulation and wear, for lighter GT cars.
ML40A: friction 0.32-0.47; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). Moderate friction that resists lock-up, an endurance compound.
S55G: Endless publishes no figures. It suits lightweight and front-wheel-drive cars, and the rear of front-wheel-drive cars, with high controllability.
PC35: Endless publishes no figures. More bite than N35S with high braking force and a stable pedal; Endless’s base pad for rally raid.
S41S: Endless publishes no figures. Developed for GT cars, including GT3, under high brake loads.

Sold as their own options

W003: trail-braking style; friction 0.40-0.45. Similar in character to N35S with better wear, tough and stable at high temperature with a linear torque curve; run in rally, touring cars, ALMS and PWC. Circuit only: Endless does not recommend it for the street and notes high rotor wear when cold.
S330: trail-braking style; friction 0.60-0.70; rotor range 300-850C (572-1562F). High friction for sprint racing, with good control at high levels and without accelerating rotor wear; run in Super GT, stock cars and GT2 and GT3 sprint racing.
MA45B: standard braking style; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). Endless’s endurance compound: low friction but stable for a whole race, with excellent heat resistance and wear. Most Nurburgring and Spa 24 Hours entrants run it.

Notes

Each Front or Rear set of Brake Pads for W222 S65 sedans covers both wheels on one axle
Not for an S65 with the optional carbon ceramic brakes, which take different pads
Not for the W221 S65 AMG of 2007 to 2013, which takes EIP226 and EIP227 on its own listing
Endless ties the EIP255 rear shape to the W222 sedan. Owners of an S65 Coupe or Cabriolet should check with Bulletproof Automotive before ordering.
For the factory brakes; a car converted to an aftermarket big brake kit takes the pads for those calipers

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
