Does the Brake Cooling Kit for VB work with aftermarket brakes?

Yes. Verus Engineering states the Brake Cooling Kit for VB increases the cooling capacity of either the factory or an aftermarket brake system on the WRX, because it delivers air through new stainless backing plates straight to the rotor center. Verus does not list clearance for individual big brake kits, so check with the brake maker before installing.

What is carbon nylon and why is it used for the inlet?

Carbon nylon is a nylon material reinforced with carbon, which Verus Engineering prints in-house for strength and durability. Printing let Verus shape the bumper duct to look like an OEM part while improving the flow of air into the high-temperature silicone hose, and the inlet sets how much air the rest of the kit can deliver.

Will the stainless backing plates rust?

No. Verus Engineering states that the stainless backing plates and ducts will never rust. The transition ducts are 3D printed in 316L stainless steel and were designed together with the backing plates to direct and increase airflow to the center of the rotor, which is where the kit does its cooling work.

How hard is the VB brake cooling kit to install?

Verus Engineering rates it as a few hours of work with minimal hand tools and know-how. The silicone hoses arrive cut to size, the hardware kit includes the hose clamps, and Verus publishes both an install manual and an install video for the VB WRX, so the job suits a capable home mechanic.

Why direct air into the center of the rotor?

A vented rotor pumps air from its center outward through its internal vanes, so cool air delivered to the center passes through the disc instead of over its faces. Verus Engineering routes the high-pressure air from the bumper to that point by the shortest path, which is how the kit lifts cooling capacity and keeps brake performance consistent.

Description

Verus Engineering Brake Cooling Kit for VB Subaru WRX

Verus Engineering’s Brake Cooling Kit for VB Subaru WRX begins at a custom bumper inlet, 3D printed by Verus in carbon nylon to look like a factory part and to ease airflow into the hose behind it. From there, 2.5 inch high-temperature silicone hose runs to stainless backing plates fitted with 3D printed 316L stainless transition ducts that aim the air at the center of each rotor. Verus designed the layout from its own scan data and CFD of the VB, and it suits the 2022 and later WRX whose brakes fade on track, whether they are factory or aftermarket.

Why Heat Matters

Modern brakes combine daily drivability with real performance, but heat still limits every one of them. By taking high-pressure air from the front of the bumper and forcing it into the rotor center, the kit raises the cooling capacity of the whole brake system, which Verus says brings more consistent performance and lower lap times.

About Verus Engineering

Verus Engineering designs aerodynamic and performance parts in Indianapolis, Indiana. Two engineers founded it in late 2014 as Velox Motorsports and renamed it in 2017 after a trademark dispute; verus is Latin for true or complete. Each design starts from a 3D scan of the car, is developed with CFD and finite element analysis and is validated on track, across more than 20 platforms from the GR86 to the C8 Corvette.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
