The HKS Head Stud Kit for RB26DETT fits the BNR32, BCNR33 and BNR34 Skyline GT-R with 14 bottoming-type studs in ARP Custom Age 625+, a material HKS rates at about 1.3 times the tensile strength of ARP2000. The aim is to stop the head lifting and the gasket leaking under high combustion pressure. It makes sense on a built engine running big boost, a race engine or any overhaul with the head already off; on a stock-power engine that has never lost a gasket, it is more insurance than necessity.

Development and Testing

HKS evaluated the Head Studs Pro in drag racing at outputs above 1,200 PS, a figure from HKS test engines rather than a claim about any customer car. Each stud threads to the bottom of its hole, which lengthens the engaged thread and spreads the stress, and HKS sets the correct torque from that bottomed position.
