Development

From the factory, the 996 Turbo was built without a valved exhaust. To satisfy European noise regulations and customer expectations for a comfortable cabin, Porsche toned down the exhaust note, muting the Mezger flat-six. With the valves closed, a resonated 2-inch secondary flow path routes exhaust through oversized resonators, reducing volume, canceling drone, and smoothing exhaust pulses for a refined, discreet tone suited to cruising. With the valves open, exhaust bypasses the restriction and flows through the full 3-inch primary path, unleashing maximum power and the raw, unmistakable Mezger flat-six sound. Back-purged TIG welding with ARCAL Prime argon gas ensures maximum weld penetration and long-term durability under extreme conditions. Each water-jet-cut flange is manufactured to ISO 9001:2015 standards with tolerances of +/- 0.003 inches, guaranteeing exact alignment. Thick-gauge aluminum fixtures act as efficient heat sinks during welding, preventing distortion and warping of both the components and the fixtures.

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse.
