Before Porsche began implementing valved exhausts on the Turbo 911, the platform was known for a muted exhaust note shaped by customer expectations and European sound regulations. SOUL’s goal was to create the ultimate solution for enthusiasts seeking precision sound control and enhanced performance through a dual-path design. With valves closed, exhaust routes through the secondary flow path: smaller piping flowing into oversized resonators that work in harmony to suppress sound levels, smooth out drone, and cancel exhaust pulses for a subdued, refined note at low RPM. The overall flow in this configuration is still improved over the factory muffler. When valves open, exhaust flows through the full 3-inch primary path for a bold, aggressive tone. The delta between the two modes is deliberate and noticeable.

Integration

The factory 991 Turbo exhaust is non-valved. Without the vacuum lines of older Porsche Sport Exhausts or electronically controlled motors, valve operation cannot be controlled by a PSE button or driving mode. The included Valve Controller Kit provides full manual control over the valves via the included fob or by pairing to HomeLink buttons.

Construction

Each system is assembled in-house from thick-wall 0.065-inch T304L stainless steel and rigorously quality-checked. Next-generation metal 3D printing technology is used to engineer 316L stainless steel sections for optimum flow paths through the system. Water-jet-cut brackets are manufactured to ISO 9001:2015 standards with tolerances of +/- 0.003 inches. Thick-gauge aluminum fixtures act as heat sinks during welding to prevent warpage.

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks.
