SOUL’s Valved Exhaust System for 992.1 Porsche 911 Turbo delivers a significant sound improvement over factory PSE under all driving conditions. A large-diameter X-pipe in the primary flow path adds a refined amount of aggression, while a bespoke X-pipe muffler smooths the exhaust note as the valves close. Development

SOUL’s aim was to increase the volume of the rear exhaust while maintaining a refined tone and level of volume, even with upgraded catalytic converter sections. The factory valves are electronically controlled, unlike older open-or-closed vacuum-style valves; working variably, they gradually open and close depending on several factors of engine operation. Even under full throttle in Sport mode, the valves will not stay open 100 percent of the time, so it was imperative that the system have a smooth transition during valve operation.
To tame drone, SOUL uses a bespoke X-pipe muffler. Internally, this muffler has little to no restriction in the flow path, using straight-through piping that is perforated to let exhaust gases escape and become muffled in the surrounding packing material of the muffler body. An internal X-pipe allows the exhaust flow to merge smoothly. These characteristics combine to reduce and smooth out drone in the 2,000 to 2,400 rpm range while enhancing a higher-pitched note in both the valves-closed and valves-open conditions. With the valves open, exhaust gases flow through 3 inch piping with an X-pipe to enhance the tone before exiting through the tips, while a secondary flow path lets exhaust gases talk with the muffler for a fuller, more robust tone.

Construction

Each system is assembled in-house in the USA from mandrel bent, thick-wall .065 inch T304L stainless steel. Back-purged TIG welding, using ARCAL Prime argon gas, ensures proper weld penetration and longevity. Water-jet cut flanges are made to ISO 9001:2015 standards with tolerances of plus or minus 0.003 inches for extreme precision. The exhaust is fabricated using thick-gauge aluminum fixtures, which act as a heat sink during welding and prevent warping of both the product and the fixtures themselves, ensuring perfect fitment.

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse.
