Rear toe has a direct and immediate effect on how a BMW feels under braking and mid-corner. A small amount of toe-in at the rear adds stability; it keeps the rear planted under trail braking and prevents the tail from stepping out unexpectedly mid-corner. The problem on F2x and F3x models is that the factory eccentric bolt holding the toe arm in its aligned position is secured by friction alone, and that friction threshold can be exceeded under sustained high cornering loads. When the bolt rotates, toe changes, and the stability the alignment was designed to provide disappears until the car goes back on a rack. The SPL Parts ELT F3X addresses that failure point at the toe arm specifically. It replaces the factory rear toe arm eccentric bolt with CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum lockout plates, zinc-plated grade 10.9 bolts, and lock nuts that create a mechanically fixed connection. The eccentric can no longer rotate. Rear toe holds its set position through the entire session, whether that session is a track day, a canyon run, or an autocross event where the car repeatedly reaches lateral load limits.

What is the difference between the SPL ELT F3X, the SPL ELC E9X, and the combined SPL EL F3X? These are three distinct products targeting different eccentric bolt positions. The ELT F3X locks out the rear toe arm eccentric only, for F2x and F3x models. The ELC E9X locks out the rear camber arm eccentric only, covering E8x, E9x, F2x, and F3x models. The EL F3X is the combined kit that locks out both the rear toe arm and rear camber arm eccentrics in a single purchase, for F2x and F3x models. Choose based on which eccentric positions need to be addressed on your specific build.
Do I need adjustable rear toe arms before installing the SPL ELT F3X? Yes. Removing the factory toe arm eccentric bolt eliminates the only factory mechanism for adjusting rear toe. Without adjustable rear toe arms in place, rear toe cannot be set or changed after installation. SPL Parts recommends the SPL RTA F3X rear toe arm for these platforms; it should be installed before or at the same time as this lockout kit.
Why does rear toe shift on the F2x and F3x under track conditions? The factory toe arm on these platforms uses an eccentric bolt that is held in position by friction once torqued to spec. Under sustained high lateral loading at the limit, the force applied through the toe arm can overcome that friction and rotate the bolt slightly. Even small changes in toe from this rotation affect rear stability and balance, particularly under trail braking and at corner entry, where consistent rear geometry is most critical.
Is this kit suitable for a street car that does not track? On a street car that is aggressively driven or that runs negative rear toe for a performance alignment, the eccentric bolt can still slip over time, though less quickly than under sustained track use. If maintaining the rear toe alignment precisely between service intervals is important for your build, the ELT F3X addresses that. For a stock street alignment with no performance modifications, the factory eccentric bolt is typically sufficient.

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance.
