SOUL Performance developed the Sport Package for the Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman (2017+) as a street-and-track-ready upgrade that pairs a straight-through dual exhaust layout with a high-flow sport downpipe to deliver a more authentic boxer engine note, improved throttle response, and stronger turbo character without triggering a check engine light or producing noxious fumes. Designed for enthusiasts who find the 718 too subdued in factory form, the package enhances drivability and unlocks a major increase in turbo sound, snarls, and crackles, while the dual-pipe configuration promotes a smoother, more distinctly Porsche-like rumble than single-pipe conversions. SOUL Performance builds the system from mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel with 2.5-inch OD over-axle piping, thick cast flanges, durable flex sections, and back-purged TIG welding for long-term durability under aggressive use. Bespoke thick laser-cut mounting brackets for manual and PDK transmissions are incorporated to improve fitment while reducing vibrations and NVH. This manual configuration is finished with Single Wall tips and installs as a direct bolt-on with installation instructions included, providing a 16-18 lb weight savings versus the factory base / PSE exhaust. Each system is fixture-tested, quality-checked, foam packed for safe delivery, and backed by SOUL Performance’s lifetime warranty for both street and track use.

Development

• SOUL Performance recognized that the 718 platform’s extensive sound deadening, combined with the turbocharger, creates an overly mellow cabin experience with both the base exhaust and Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE). For drivers who want a more aggressive character, SOUL Performance developed an aggressive system designed for aggressive use. After Suncoast Parts sought a more durable solution for a track vehicle that experienced an exhaust failure with another brand, SOUL Performance strengthened its Performance Exhaust to excel under sustained racetrack conditions. Flex sections in the over-axle piping and bespoke mounting brackets for both manual and PDK transmissions help promote long-term longevity while reducing NVH. By upgrading the downpipe, the system improves drivability and unlocks the turbo’s character with a major increase in snarling and crackles. Smooth mandrel-bent piping that transitions from 90 mm down to dual 55 mm outlets encourages better throttle response and a more exciting exhaust note. Designed to bolt in with no modifications required, it offers a straightforward, reversible way to make the 718 Boxster or Cayman more engaging, while the dual-pipe layout promotes a smoother, more refined rumble than single-pipe conversions for a more distinctly Porsche-like engine note.

• During development, SOUL Performance repeatedly heard feedback that this was the best-sounding 718 exhaust many enthusiasts had ever experienced and SOUL Performance agrees. This setup delivers an impressive level of snarling and crackling that carries from a distance. Because it eliminates mufflers and resonators, it adds the in-cabin presence that is largely missing from the factory system, and when paired with a high-flow downpipe, overall volume will be on the loud side. As a very aggressive exhaust configuration, it is designed to sound and perform accordingly, making it ideal for drivers seeking an invigorating experience, though it may be too intrusive for casual daily use. For customers looking for an absolutely drone-free setup with an aftermarket downpipe, SOUL Performance recommends the Valved Exhaust System.

Bolt On and Go

• Each SOUL Performance system is constructed from mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel tubing with 2.5-inch over-axle piping and fortified muffler casings engineered for long-term durability. With the valves closed, exhaust gases are directed through the SOUL muffler, which is packed with high-quality sound-deadening material designed to withstand sustained use without blowout, resulting in exceptional drone suppression and a refined driving experience. When the valves are opened, exhaust gases are allowed to exit freely through large 2.5-inch piping, while integrated perforations enable interaction with the muffler, producing a fuller, deeper, and more robust exhaust tone that highlights the character of the engine.
