SOUL Performance Competition Exhaust System with Single Wall Tips for 982 Porsche 718 Boxster / Cayman

SOUL Performance engineered the Competition Package for the Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman (2017+) to deliver a more aggressive exhaust note and sharper turbo character while preserving a refined cabin experience, offering true mild-to-wild control at the press of a button. By combining the Competition Downpipe with the Valved Exhaust System, SOUL Performance enhances throttle response, turbo sound, and overall engagement while avoiding the drone and rasp that can appear when a freer-flowing downpipe is paired with an inadequate rear exhaust. Constructed from mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel with 2.5-inch OD over-axle piping and fortified muffler casings, and paired with a thick-wall T304L stainless downpipe featuring smooth 90 mm-to-55 mm transitions, the package is built for long-term durability and consistent performance. With the valves closed, exhaust flow is routed through SOUL’s mufflers for exceptional drone suppression and a calm highway demeanor; with the valves open, large 2.5-inch piping and integrated perforations allow the exhaust to interact with the muffler to produce a fuller, more robust tone with a pronounced level of snarling and crackling, with Sport mode further increasing crackles and burbles. This configuration is finished with Straight Cut Single Wall tips in Signature Satin and includes depth adjustment for a tailored fit at the bumper. The kit installs as a direct bolt-on with instructions included and a valve controller (required for non-PSE cars and optional for PSE-equipped cars), with operation via the factory PSE button, included fobs, and HomeLink compatibility, and every component is fixture-tested and foam packed for safe delivery. Because the downpipe may trigger a check engine light and is intended for off-road use only, SOUL Performance recommends an ECU tune for best drivability and to help prevent potential boost spikes from the increased exhaust flow.

Development

• SOUL Performance developed this valved exhaust package to deliver a unique, aggressive exhaust note without sacrificing a refined cabin experience, providing true mild-to-wild control at the press of a button. While an upgraded downpipe dramatically enhances the character of the 718, SOUL Performance recognized that pairing it with an inadequate rear exhaust can introduce undesirable drone during normal driving, especially around 3,000 RPM. Increasing volume on the 718 is easy, but creating a more aggressive note that still sounds distinctly Porsche from the turbo flat-four is far more challenging, particularly because the turbocharger and extensive factory sound deadening keep the cabin exceptionally calm and can expose unwanted rasp and drone when volume is simply turned up. By applying the same proven design principles used across SOUL Performance’s renowned Valved Exhaust systems for previous Boxster and Cayman generations, the package delivers a controlled, refined increase in sound that pairs exceptionally well with a freer-flowing downpipe, producing a mature exhaust note without becoming overbearing. This makes it an ideal upgrade for vehicles not equipped with Porsche Sport Exhaust from the factory. For the downpipe, SOUL Performance uses smooth mandrel-bent piping that transitions from 90 mm to 55 mm at the exit to promote improved throttle response, stronger turbo sound, and a more exciting overall exhaust character.

Construction

• SOUL Performance constructs each system from mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel tubing, including 2.5-inch OD over-axle piping, and equips it with mufflers featuring fortified casings to promote long-term durability. With the valves closed, exhaust gases are routed through the SOUL muffler, which is packed with high-quality sound-deadening material engineered to withstand sustained abuse without blowing out over time, resulting in highly effective drone reduction. Exhaust gases pass through the muffler and exit through perforations into the outer piping. With the valves open, exhaust gases are free to flow through large 2.5-inch piping, while the integrated perforations allow the exhaust to interact with the muffler to encourage a fuller, more robust tone. Each downpipe is fabricated from mandrel-bent, thick-wall T304L stainless steel and is rigorously quality-checked prior to shipping.

Sound

• SOUL Performance delivers refined aggression with an overall exhaust note that is noticeably sharper and turbo character that is far more pronounced. With the valves closed, the system maintains a calm cabin suitable for highway cruising and phone conversations without exhaust intrusion. When opened up, it provides a respectable level of snarling and crackling while effectively minimizing drone across all RPM and throttle loads. In Sport mode, the system further increases crackles and burbles for an even more engaging driving experience.

Valve Operation

• SOUL Performance includes a valve controller with every system, and it is required for vehicles not equipped with Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE). For PSE-equipped cars, full factory functionality is retained by using the factory vacuum lines. The valve controller remains optional on PSE-equipped vehicles, adding the ability to control the valves at all times. Valve operation can be managed through the factory PSE button, the included valve controller fobs, or programmed into HomeLink buttons.
