SOUL Performance Competition Downpipe for 982 Porsche 718 Boxster / Cayman

SOUL Performance engineered the Competition Downpipe for the Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman (2017+) as a bolt-in catalytic converter delete that dramatically increases turbo character, snarls, and crackles while maintaining a cabin that remains free of intrusive drone. Designed as a reversible upgrade that requires no cutting or modifications, it installs directly into the factory exhaust system and reduces weight by 7.1 lb (3.2 kg) compared to the OEM components. The downpipe features smooth mandrel-bent piping that transitions from 90 mm down to dual 55 mm outlets to promote improved throttle response and a more engaging exhaust note. Each unit is fabricated from thick-wall, mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel, then fixture-tested, quality-checked, and foam packed for safe delivery, with new hardware and detailed installation instructions included. Because upgrading the factory catalytic converter can trigger a check engine light and may increase exhaust flow enough to cause boost spikes, SOUL Performance strongly recommends pairing this downpipe with an ECU tune for optimal drivability and performance, and it is intended for track / off-road use only and is not emissions compliant.

Development

• SOUL Performance developed this solution for drivers who find the 718 too subdued in factory form. By upgrading the restrictive factory catalytic converter, the system improves drivability and unlocks the turbo’s character with a major increase in snarling and crackles, delivering an aggressive sound without introducing cabin drone. Smooth mandrel-bent piping that transitions from 90 mm down to dual 55 mm outlets promotes improved throttle response and a more exciting exhaust note. Designed to bolt in easily with no modifications required, it offers a fully reversible way to make the 718 Boxster or Cayman more engaging. Due to the significant increase in exhaust flow, SOUL Performance strongly recommends an ECU tune with this modification to prevent boost spikes.

• Boost spikes can occur as a result of increasing the exhaust flow with a sport downpipe. It is highly recommend an ECU tune to not only extract maximum power from this mod, but to have the best possible drivability as well.
