The SOUL Performance Porsche 981 Valved Exhaust System for the Boxster and Cayman is engineered to enhance the flat-six’s sound, response, and overall driving character through a precision-built, performance-focused design. Crafted from mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel, the system replaces the restrictive factory exhaust with freer-flowing 2.5-inch over-axle piping and specially tuned mufflers that eliminate unwanted drone while preserving a refined tone for daily driving. With the valves closed, the exhaust delivers a smooth, controlled sound ideal for cruising, while opening the valves unleashes a more aggressive, motorsport-inspired exhaust note that highlights the 981’s natural character. Designed as a direct bolt-on system, it includes valve control hardware for vehicles without Porsche Sport Exhaust or enhanced control for PSE-equipped cars, along with detailed installation instructions. Finished with straight cut single wall tips in Signature Satin, the system blends understated aesthetics with performance intent, and like all SOUL Performance products, it is backed by a lifetime warranty for both street and track use.

Development

• SOUL Performance engineered this system to deliver a broad and refined sound spectrum, Cup car inspired when the valves are open, yet composed and drone-free when the valves are closed. The proprietary SOUL muffler design virtually eliminates cabin drone, ensuring a controlled, comfortable driving experience even when paired with aftermarket headers.

Construction

• Each system is made from mandrel bent T304L stainless steel tubing (featuring 2.5″ OD over axle pipes) and features mufflers with fortified casings in the interest of durability. With valves closed the exhaust gasses are routed into the SOUL muffler, which is packed with high quality sound deadening material designed to withstand abuse and not blow out over time. The mufflers are incredibly effective at minimizing drone. Exhaust gasses make their way through the muffler and out through perforations into the outer piping. With valves open, exhaust gasses are now free to exit out through large 2.5″ piping while perforations allow exhaust gasses to “talk” with the muffler, encouraging a fuller, more robust tone.
