The SOUL Performance Products Bolt-On X-Pipe with Tips for the Porsche 987.2 and 981 Boxster / Cayman is an easy, direct bolt-on upgrade for drivers who enjoy the factory rear muffler character but want a sharper tip style, improved flow, and a more refined exhaust note. By replacing the OEM “T” tip section, where exhaust gases collide and create turbulence, SOUL’s smooth, cast X-pipe promotes a more efficient exit path that smooths exhaust pulses and helps add a sportier tone, with the potential for a slight cruising fuel economy improvement and stronger pull during aggressive acceleration. Constructed around a cast T304L stainless steel X-section for maximum durability and a clean internal flow path, this assembly is designed to fit 987.2 / 981 vehicles equipped with the factory exhaust or Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE).

Development

The factory “T” tip section in the Boxster / Cayman models allows exhaust gases to collide within the muffler before exiting the tips, as a cost-cutting measure. However, this approach creates turbulence and negatively impacts performance. To overcome this limitation, SOUL Performance Products incorporates a smooth and cast X-pipe into the rear section, enabling a more efficient flow path for the exhaust gases. This enhancement results in a small increase in gas mileage during cruising and delivers more power when accelerating aggressively.
The interior casting of the X-pipe is designed to be smooth, without any protrusions from welds. This is in contrast to non-cast designs that may fail at this junction due to stress and potential welding issues. SOUL Performance Products has made a deliberate and conscientious decision to provide the most durable X-pipe solution possible. Moreover, these X-sections have been successfully implemented across their entire line of Boxster / Cayman exhaust systems, which have a proven track record of performance, including being utilized on the fastest Boxster ever recorded at Watkins Glen. These exhaust systems are warrantied for track use throughout their lifespan. Cast components, such as the X-pipe, have been proven effective in OEM applications for years and are endorsed by IPD Plenums, a renowned aftermarket performance leader known for their intake plenums and throttle bodies.

To achieve optimal flow, a cast T304L stainless steel X-pipe is utilized, boasting a smooth inner wall and clean “X” section. This design ensures maximum flow efficiency. Choose from single-wall 321 stainless tips available in slash cut or straight cut styles, or opt for chrome double-wall tips in various finishes, all allowing you to customize your exhaust to suit your taste. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario.
