The Flow Forming Process

• Flow forming begins by placing a cast wheel onto a heated mandrel, where hydraulic rollers apply carefully controlled pressure to the barrel. As the barrel is stretched to its final width, the aluminum’s grain structure is compressed and strengthened, resulting in a lighter, more rigid barrel with performance characteristics approaching those of a fully forged wheel.
