The Flow Forming Process

• Flow forming begins with a cast wheel secured on a heated mandrel while hydraulic rollers apply carefully regulated pressure along the barrel. As the barrel is progressively worked out to its final width, the aluminum’s grain structure is compressed and refined, resulting in a lighter, stronger barrel with performance characteristics that come very close to those of a fully forged wheel.
