The Flow Forming Process

• Flow forming starts with a cast wheel mounted on a heated mandrel while hydraulic rollers apply precisely regulated pressure along the barrel. As the barrel is gradually stretched to its final width, the aluminum’s grain structure becomes more compact and refined, producing a lighter, stronger barrel with performance characteristics that closely approach those of a fully forged wheel.
