The Flow Forming Process

• In flow forming, a cast wheel is mounted on a heated spinning mandrel and worked by hydraulic rollers that apply even pressure along the barrel. As it’s formed to its final width, the aluminum grain structure is compressed and realigned, yielding a lighter, stronger barrel with performance similar to a forged wheel.
