The Flow Forming Process

• Flow forming starts with a cast wheel mounted on a heated mandrel while hydraulic rollers apply precisely regulated pressure along the barrel. As the barrel is gradually drawn out to its final width, the aluminum’s grain structure is compressed and refined, resulting in a lighter, stronger barrel with performance characteristics that closely rival those of a fully forged wheel.
