How much power does the VF ECU Software for 991.1 Carrera S add?

VF Engineering quotes 415 hp and 350 lb-ft from its ECU Software for 991.1 Porsche 911 Carrera S models, gains of 20 hp and 25 lb-ft over the factory 395 hp and 325 lb-ft. The GTS starts from a higher factory rating, so its gain differs.

Does the calibration fit the Carrera 4S and GTS?

Yes. VF Engineering lists one calibration for the 991.1 Carrera S, Carrera 4S and GTS, which share the 3.8 liter flat six. The 3.4 liter Carrera and Carrera 4 from the same generation take a separate VF calibration, sold as its own listing.

How is the software installed?

VF supplies the calibration as an end-user programmable package written through the OBDII port, so a workshop visit is not required. VF Engineering states that the factory calibration can be restored from the same port at any time, leaving the car exactly as delivered.

Does it work with both the manual and PDK?

The calibration works on the engine and VF Engineering lists it for the 991.1 Carrera S, 4S and GTS without restriction by gearbox. The seven-speed manual or PDK keeps its factory behavior, and the engine responds more sharply to the throttle.

Is any other hardware needed?

No. VF Engineering writes the calibration for the factory engine and exhaust, so no supporting parts are required. Owners who have already changed the exhaust or intake can ask Bulletproof Automotive to check the right file with VF before ordering.

Description

VF Engineering Performance ECU Software for 991.1 Porsche 911 Carrera S, 4S and GTS

VF Engineering’s Performance ECU Software for 991.1 Porsche 911 Carrera S, 4S and GTS covers the final generation of naturally aspirated Carrera engines, the 3.8-liter direct-injection flat-six that Porsche replaced with turbocharged units in 2017. VF quotes 415 hp and 350 lb-ft for the Carrera S with the calibration installed, gains of 20 hp and 25 lb-ft over the factory 395 hp and 325 lb-ft. Owners of these cars often keep them precisely because they are the last atmospheric Carreras, and the calibration respects that: it sharpens throttle response and the build of revs without changing the engine’s nature. It suits an owner who wants the S, 4S or GTS a little keener.

About VF Engineering

VF Engineering designs supercharger and turbocharger systems, titanium exhausts and ECU and TCU calibrations from a 15,000 sq ft facility in Anaheim, Orange County, California, where it has been based for nearly two decades. Every calibration is developed in house on the company’s own Mustang AWD 500 chassis dyno, ECU boards are handled in a dedicated clean room, and new parts start in an R&D room equipped with a rapid prototyper. VF reports that more than 93 percent of its supercharger systems are still running after years of hard use, many on their second or third owner, and its engineers carry the testing discipline of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series into every road calibration.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
