The do88 Performance MERA Intercooler Kit for the 997 Porsche 911 GT2, GT2 RS, and Turbo delivers exceptional cooling, airflow, and performance. Representing “MERA,” or more, the kit provides enhanced cooling efficiency, improved airflow, and increased power potential. Market research revealed that many aftermarket options were either comparable to or inferior to the OEM 997.2 intercoolers, prompting do88 to create a no-compromise solution tailored to the car’s design. Originally launched in 2016 with a UK-made Tube & Fin core for lightweight and effective cooling, the kit has proven its capabilities in numerous 1000hp builds. In 2021, do88 further refined the design, incorporating a motorsport-grade Bar & Plate core from Garrett to elevate performance and reliability even further.

Improvements

The do88 intercoolers for the 997.2 Porsche 911 achieve a notable 51.8°F reduction in intake air temperature and a 19% improvement in airflow over the previous version. Featuring cast end tanks for precise airflow distribution and 70mm connections with CFD-tested hoses, these intercoolers enhance cooling efficiency while minimizing pressure drop. The kit includes a lightweight prepreg carbon air duct with proper seals to optimize ambient air usage, along with a 3D-scanned upper ambient air guide to ensure seamless integration with the vehicle’s components. High-temperature hoses, rated to withstand 464°F, provide enhanced durability and airflow efficiency.
Weighing 18.10 lbs per piece compared to the OEM’s 7.27lbs, the all-aluminum construction offers substantial performance gains that outweigh the slight increase in weight. The dense, motorsport-grade design delivers exceptional cooling and airflow, making these intercoolers a vital upgrade for high-performance 997.2 Porsche 911 applications.

Performance

The do88 intercoolers significantly reduce intake temperatures, offering a marked improvement over the OEM 997.2 units. Data collected using an AIM race logger during five consecutive back-to-back full-throttle runs without cooldown demonstrates their performance. The tests, conducted on a Stage 1 tuned Porsche 997, involved accelerations from 30 to 155 mph with the car set to Sport Plus mode and AC turned off to maintain consistent testing conditions.

Testing

Five test runs were conducted with the car fitted with OEM intercoolers, followed by a quick swap to do88 intercoolers. After a brief shakedown, another five runs were performed under identical conditions. The results showed a significant 32.4°F decrease in inlet air temperature, as illustrated in the graph. Through extensive development, including the refinement of end tank design and the selection of a high-performance core, the do88 intercoolers demonstrated superior heat transfer and airflow efficiency. Verified using the in-house Superflow SF-1020 Probench as a complete system with hoses on both the inlet and outlet, the do88 intercoolers deliver reliable MERA performance.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest.
