The Mercedes S63 AMG stands out with its 612 horsepower and a powerful 900 nm of torque. The V8 biturbo engine propels this exceptional sedan to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. It was important to Kline that the exhaust note fully realizes its deep baritone potential.

The Sound

• Kline Innovation has enhanced the auditory experience by replacing the 600CPSI catalysts with 100 cell HJS race cats, significantly opening up the sound. The addition of Kline’s trademark 20 degree 1D CLR x pipe blends the left and right banks, increasing the tenor range and providing a fuller, richer vocal quality while eliminating unwanted bass frequencies (drone). The Valvetronic rear silencers, equipped with Kline’s proprietary “Jekyll and Hyde” technology, maintain near-stock quietness upon valve closure for stealthy driving and zero highway drone. When the valve is open, the silencer is completely bypassed, allowing the full, pure V8 howl to ensue.

The Performance

• The restrictive stock cats are replaced with Kline’s 100 CPSI race cats or racing pipes, thereby markedly augmenting the sound and performance. The addition of Kline’s perfect x pipe geometry enriches the sound, effectively expanding the soundscape to produce more aggressive midrange and treble tones. The valvetronic rear section designed by Kline integrates the valve control seamlessly into the car’s OEM functionality, enabling nearly silent operation when the valve is closed and delivering a rich baritone, aggressive output when the valve is open.

Stainless Steel

• Consistent with industry standards, Kline incorporates 304-grade stainless steel into their exhaust systems. This type of steel blends a mix of decent strength, thermochemical resistance, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturing ease, thus contributing to the creation of durable and functional exhaust systems. Although stainless steel has a density similar to that of regular steel and is slightly heavier, it offers slightly less tensile strength. However, it meets all the requirements for fabricating high-performance exhaust parts and producing attractive exhaust sounds.

Inconel

• When the question of unparalleled durability and heat resistance arises, Kline turns to Inconel 625, a material that holds high regard in the aerospace industry. This material is widely utilized in crafting critical parts, including the exhaust turbine blades of high-performance jet engines. Renowned in the realm of Formula One exhaust systems, Inconel is the material of choice for distinguished hypercar projects such as the McLaren P1 and Aston Martin 177. The strengths of Inconel lie in its impressive tensile strength and thermochemical stability, on par with titanium, enabling an impressive strength-to-weight ratio. This allows the use of thin sidewall materials without sacrificing structural solidity, yielding lightweight components that endure prolonged periods of fatigue. However, Inconel’s intricate machinability and specific welding requirements pose a challenge, demanding specialized skills and labor-intensive processes. Furthermore, Inconel’s unique attributes and specialized production methods contribute to higher raw material costs.
