Fabspeed XperTune Performance Software for 992 Porsche 911 Turbo & Turbo S
Fabspeed’s XperTune Performance Software for the 992 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S exists because Porsche does not sell you all of the engine. Almost every car leaves the factory calibrated with margin held back for fuel quality, for neglected maintenance and for owners who will never look after it properly, and on a 3.7 twin-turbo flat-six that margin is substantial. Fabspeed’s tuners in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania take a copy of your car’s own factory file and write a modified one against it, recalibrating sensor inputs, air-fuel ratios and boost pressure to reach what the hardware will actually support while keeping the operating parameters inside the limits that keep the engine alive. Along with the power comes a claimed ten to fifteen percent improvement in fuel economy, the removal of the speed limiter, and throttle response with the flat spots taken out of it. Your original file is kept, so nothing about this is permanent.
How the Process Works
This is a bench flash, not a handheld product, and it is worth understanding before ordering. Nothing physical ships to you at checkout. You receive an emailed download link with detailed instructions, remove the ECU from the car and post it to Fabspeed along with a completed ECU Information form. Their tuner flashes the unit with the upgraded map and returns it within twenty-four to forty-eight hours of receiving it, using whatever shipping method you chose to send it in. Refitting requires no modification to the vehicle. Shipping costs in both directions are the purchaser’s responsibility.
Why a Bench Flash
Modern Porsche ECUs are locked down in ways their predecessors were not, which is why this application is handled on the bench rather than through a port in the cabin. The trade is a few days without the ECU in exchange for a calibration written directly to the unit, and the compensation is that Fabspeed retains your factory file, so the car can be returned to standard settings whenever a dealer visit, a warranty conversation or a sale calls for it.
Built Around What Is Fitted
Fabspeed writes the file against the hardware on the car. A 992 Turbo running Sport Cats and a cat-back system will see more from the same calibration work than a standard car, because the file can only take advantage of flow that exists. That said, a completely stock car still gains meaningfully, so this is a reasonable first modification as well as a sensible last one.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I have to send my ECU in? Yes, and this is the main thing to understand before ordering. Unlike Fabspeed’s handheld XperTune products for older Porsches, the 992 Turbo application is a bench flash. Nothing ships to you at checkout; you receive emailed instructions, remove the ECU, post it to Fabspeed with the completed information form, and refit it when it comes back.
- How long will my car be off the road? Fabspeed tunes the ECU within twenty-four to forty-eight hours of receiving it, so the real variable is transit time in each direction. Owners in a hurry send the unit overnight, which Fabspeed then matches on the return leg. Budget the round trip plus two days and you will not be disappointed.
- Who pays the shipping? You do, in both directions. Fabspeed returns the ECU by the same method it arrived, so the choice of service is yours and the cost follows it. That is worth factoring into the total when comparing this against tuning options that work through the diagnostic port.
- Can I return the car to standard? Yes. Fabspeed retains your factory ECU settings, so the unit can be flashed back to standard whenever a dealer visit, a warranty conversation or a sale makes that the sensible thing to do. Ask us to confirm the current terms for a reversion before you order if that matters to your plans.
- How much power does it add? Fabspeed publishes no before and after figures for the 992 Turbo application, so we are not going to quote any. What they do state is the engineering intent: extract the maximum the 3.7 twin-turbo will safely support while keeping operating parameters inside the limits that protect reliability and longevity. Ask us and we will get you whatever current data Fabspeed has.
- Do I need other modifications first? No. Fabspeed notes that a car with bolt-on upgrades sees the largest gains, because the calibration can only use flow that exists, but they are equally clear that a completely standard car gains meaningfully. Many owners tune first and add Sport Cats or an exhaust later, then have the file revised.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only.

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well.
For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at
