Eventuri has refined their FK8 system into the FL5 intake, optimizing it to leverage the expanded space within the FL5 engine bay. By retaining a sealed airbox, Eventuri ensures minimal heat soak, providing a steady flow of cold air to the turbo. Given the intake’s position directly behind the radiator, it’s critical to avoid exposing the filter and drawing heated air into the turbo. The OEM flexible intake hose, known for creating turbulence and increasing drag, has been replaced in the FL5 Intake. Eventuri developed a smooth pathway from the filter to the inlet tube, eliminating drag and enhancing airflow. The inlet tube is designed to accommodate engine movement, moving within the airbox while keeping a tight seal to block heat. The carbon airbox is crafted to maximize available space and minimize heat entry, leading to performance enhancements and aesthetics that set a new benchmark for the FL5 Type R.

Carbon Airbox Enclosure

• The FL5’s airbox is ingeniously crafted to utilize the engine bay’s space efficiently, acting as a barrier against various heat sources. The closest heat emanation comes from the radiator and fan, which propel a stream of hot air straight into the intake zone. Adjacent heat producers like the turbo and downpipe exacerbate the temperature rise once the engine reaches its operational heat, leading to rapid heat saturation in the engine bay. To combat these challenges, a comprehensive airbox system is essential to keep the intake air temperatures as low as possible.

Carbon Venturi Tube

• Eventuri has engineered a tube to seamlessly link the cone filter with the factory turbo pipe, incorporating a MAF sensor mount and a Venturi stack precisely matched to the filter neck’s inner diameter. This design ensures a smooth, laminar airflow transition from the filter into the tube, contrasting with the stock’s turbulent-causing flexible rubber tube. Designed for flexibility, this tube operates independently within the airbox, adapting to engine movements without stress. The result is an aerodynamic pathway that enhances turbo efficiency, minimizing turbo lag and optimizing boost generation.

Custom Silicon Hose

• Replacing the standard hose and breather setup, Eventuri’s silicone hose seamlessly connects the carbon intake to the alloy turbo tube, eliminating any intermediary barriers. It features an internal step designed to match the OEM metal tube, addressing the issue of exposed edges found in other aftermarket silicone hoses. This silicone hose represents the final piece of the intake puzzle, facilitating uninterrupted airflow to the turbo tube.

Performance

• Eventuri’s intake system, with its larger airbox and a streamlined path to the turbo inlet, enables the turbo to achieve optimal boost levels more swiftly, evidenced by a reduced wastegate duty cycle. Independent tests conducted by Honda tuning experts demonstrate the superiority of the Eventuri intake over the standard airbox. Tests were conducted under controlled conditions—back to back on the same day with the hood closed—showing marked improvements in performance on a vehicle with standard tuning and exhaust configurations.
