Lamborghini’s latest technological advancements have made the SVJ not only the fastest Aventador to date but also remarkably accessible for drivers. With its impressive 760 horsepower, 6.5-liter V12 engine and aggressive styling, the Aventador SVJ was purpose-built to make a lasting impact. Recognizing the opportunity to enhance this exceptional vehicle, Kline took on the task of designing and developing the ultimate Aventador SVJ exhaust system. Employing ultra lightweight Inconel 625, Kline’s design brief focused on achieving unrivaled sound performance and maximizing lightness.

The Sound

• Within the team at Kline, it was unanimously agreed that the factory-installed Aventador SVJ exhaust fell short of capturing the car’s raw essence. The primary sound requirement for Kline was to create an exhaust system that would truly scream at high revs while maintaining near-stock levels of quietness during cruising speeds.
• When the valves are closed, Kline’s exhaust system cleverly diverts exhaust gases through a series of chambers and acoustic sections, effectively eliminating any drone. Upon valve open, the exhaust transitions to a completely free-flow configuration, optimizing both performance and sound quality. The gases flow exclusively through Kline’s trademark tight-radius X-pipe, raising the pitch of the exhaust note. The resulting sound on valve open is nothing short of incendiary, with the X-pipe adding a raucously aggressive vocal that evokes the roar of a demon.

Performance Enhancement

• The introduction of a fully unrestricted system during valve open, Kline has achieved optimal exhaust efficiency, resulting in noticeable power and torque gains. The Aventador SVJ experiences an increase of 23 horsepower and 29 Newton-meters of torque, further enhancing its performance capabilities.

Stainless Steel

• In the domain of exhaust manufacturing, the industry has traditionally relied on the well-established standard of 304-grade stainless steel. This particular grade offers a balanced combination of moderate strength, thermochemical stability, cost-effectiveness, and ease of production. It enables the construction of exhaust systems that strike a practical balance between affordability and functionality, ensuring long-term durability. However, it is important to note that stainless steel is relatively heavier compared to alternative materials. While its density is similar to regular steel, it possesses slightly lower tensile strength. As a result, stainless steel has its limitations when it comes to creating high-performance exhaust components and may result in a somewhat subdued and less vibrant exhaust note compared to other materials.

Inconel

• When durability and heat resistance take precedence, Inconel 625 emerges as the ultimate choice, widely employed in the aerospace industry. This exceptional material finds extensive application in the manufacturing of critical components, particularly exhaust turbine blades for high-performance jet engines. Inconel is highly favored in Formula One exhaust systems and has been selected by manufacturers involved in prestigious hypercar projects such as the McLaren P1 and Aston Martin 177. The advantages of Inconel lie in its high tensile strength and excellent thermochemical stability. With a tensile strength comparable to that of titanium, it achieves an outstanding strength-to-weight ratio. This allows for the use of thin sidewall materials while maintaining structural integrity, facilitating the production of lightweight components that demonstrate exceptional resistance to fatigue over extended periods. However, working with Inconel poses challenges due to its difficult machinability and specific welding requirements, demanding specialized skills and time-consuming techniques. Additionally, the unique properties and specialized manufacturing processes associated with Inconel contribute to its higher cost as a raw material.

Heat Shield

• For customers prioritizing effective heat management, Kline offers meticulously designed heat protection solutions crafted from embossed stainless steel sheets. Skilled artisans meticulously create and weld each heat shield to ensure optimal performance. By integrating these heat shields onto the manifolds, Kline effectively mitigates heat soak, improves scavenging, and enhances overall performance, resulting in a cooler engine temperature.
