Do the Formula GT3 Mirrors fit my car?

The Formula GT3 Mirrors are universal fit, which means the base is not cut to one chassis and the mount is not model-specific. APR also builds versions with vehicle-specific bases for cars such as the S2000, Civic and WRX. Check the mounting surface on your own car before ordering either version.

How wide is the mirror lens?

The lens is 5.5in across and convex, so it covers a wider field than a flat mirror of the same size. That is what lets a housing this small stay usable on the road, and it is also why the blue anti-glare tint is fitted only to the 5.5in wide housings.

Are these carbon fiber all the way through, or a carbon-look shell?

The housings are built up from layers of pre-preg carbon fiber rather than a carbon-look wrap over plastic. A UV-resistant clear coat goes over the weave from the factory, so no extra sealing is needed and a ceramic coating is optional rather than required.

What do the blue lenses actually do?

The blue tint is there to damp reflected headlight glare at night rather than to cut overall brightness. It is a coating on the lens itself, fitted as standard, and it is not something that has to be specified or added later.

Do these need drilling to install?

That depends on the car, because the base is universal rather than model-specific. Confirm the mounting surface and the hardware needed with your installer before ordering, since APR does not supply a chassis-matched bracket with this version.

Description

APR Performance Carbon Fiber Universal Fit Formula GT3 Mirrors

APR Performance’s Formula GT3 Mirrors trade the frontal area of a factory mirror for a compact housing shaped to sit in cleaner air, which is where the drag saving comes from. Each housing is built up from layers of pre-preg carbon fiber, and the 5.5in convex lens gives back the field of view a small racing mirror normally costs, so the shape does not arrive at the price of a blind spot. A left-to-right pivot arm at the housing and an adjustable ball stub rod mean the mirror gets set for the driver rather than for a bodywork line. Blue anti-glare lenses come fitted, which is the difference between usable and dazzling behind modern headlights at night.

Carbon Fiber Construction

APR layers carbon fiber sheets around the Formula GT3 Mirror housings, which is what keeps a part this small stiff enough to hold its aim at speed instead of shivering in the airflow. A UV-resistant clear coat goes over the weave from the factory, so the finish needs no additional sealing to survive sun exposure. A ceramic coating is optional and buys finish life rather than function.

Adjustment and Mounting

Each mirror carries a left-to-right pivot arm at the housing and an adjustable ball stub rod behind it, which is a wider range of movement than most race mirrors give and the reason these suit a car with an unusual seating position or a cage. The base is universal rather than cut for one chassis, which is the trade: it goes on almost anything, but the mounting surface and hardware are yours to work out rather than APR’s.

About APR Performance

APR Performance builds aerodynamic components for road racing, time attack, and street performance applications, working from the same wind tunnel and CFD-driven process across every product line. The company designs and manufactures its own carbon fiber wings, splitters, diffusers, mirrors and canards in-house, using pre-preg materials and autoclave curing rather than outsourced wet-layup production, which is why APR parts carry SCCA and other sanctioning body approvals across multiple race classes. From early Honda and Mitsubishi platforms to current Porsche, BMW, and Corvette applications, APR’s approach has stayed the same; every component has to earn its place through measurable aerodynamic gain, not just visual styling.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
