Is this the resonated or non-resonated Track Edition for the Mk7 GLI, and which downpipe is it designed for?

This is the resonated Track Edition, designed specifically for use with a high-flow aftermarket downpipe. The resonated mid-section manages rasp and harsh frequencies that a freer-flowing downpipe can introduce, while still delivering a louder, more aggressive tone than the Touring Edition. If you are running the stock factory downpipe and want the most aggressive configuration available, the non-resonated Track Edition is the correct choice. AWE is explicit about the pairing; non-resonated for the stock downpipe, resonated for aftermarket downpipe builds.

Does the resonated Track Edition for the Mk7 GLI drone on the highway?

Less than the non-resonated version, but it is still more aggressive than the Touring Edition. The resonated Track Edition adds a mid-section resonator that manages the harshest frequencies, particularly the rasp that can develop when pairing a high-flow downpipe with a fully straight-through exhaust. It is not a drone-free system the way the Touring Edition is; highway presence is still noticeable, particularly through the mid-range RPMs that the 2.0T TSI sits at during cruise. For drivers who want full drone cancellation, the Touring Edition is the correct system regardless of downpipe configuration. The resonated Track Edition cannot be returned for noise-related reasons.

Can I switch from the resonated Track Edition to the non-resonated version, or convert to the Touring Edition, on the Mk7 GLI?

Yes to both. AWE built the Mk7 GLI exhaust suite with full conversion flexibility; swapping between resonated and non-resonated Track configurations, stepping down to the Touring Edition, and changing between dual and triple tip setups are all handled through AWE's own conversion kits without replacing the full system. If the resonated Track Edition turns out to be more aggressive than expected on your specific setup, the Touring Edition conversion adds AWE's 180 Technology® rear resonator and brings the system to a drone-free, composed highway character.

Does the AWE Track Edition for the Mk7 GLI include a valved system or require any valve hardware?

No. AWE studied the factory exhaust valve across all driving modes during development and confirmed the valve is only closed in Comfort mode below a throttle threshold; in Sport and Sport+, the valve stays open. Because useful independent valve control is limited on this platform, AWE chose not to build the Track Edition around valve hardware at all. The system is a clean, non-valved, straight-through design that delivers its character consistently without any valve-related components or simulators required.

Description

AWE Tuning Track Edition Exhaust w/ Diamond Black Tips for MK7 Volkswagen Jetta GLI

AWE GLI resonated black diamond tips finish this Track Edition, designed to work with a high-flow downpipe, a 3″ T304L stainless cat-back focused on a more aggressive, unfiltered exhaust character for the MK7 Volkswagen Jetta GLI. Unlike the Touring Edition, it drops the drone-canceling resonator for a straight-through design, letting the mid-range and high-RPM tones come through more pronounced while staying controlled at lower speeds. The straight-through mid-pipe and rear section keep exhaust velocity consistent and restriction low, and the 102mm diamond black tips integrate cleanly with the rear valance. Installation uses factory mounting points, keeps emissions equipment in place, and the system is engineered for consistent fitment, tonal balance, and performance across all driving conditions.

Track Edition Exhaust

The Track Edition is aimed at drivers who want a more aggressive, unfiltered sound. It keeps the same integrated front pipe, mid-pipe resonator, and precision engineering as the Touring Edition, but replaces the rear 180 Technology drone-canceling resonator with a straight-through section. The result is a louder, more pronounced tone during mid-range acceleration and deceleration, which may be intense for some drivers.

Exhaust Tips

Both Touring and Track Editions feature configurable tips, letting owners switch between dual or triple 4.5″ slash-cut setups using the included stamped tip connections. The tips are 4.5″ double-walled, offered here in diamond black, branded with the AWE logo, and adjustable in depth to suit personal preference.

Not Valved

AWE studied the factory exhaust valve across driving modes and found that volume is mostly consistent, with the valve closed only in Comfort mode until a throttle threshold is reached. In Sport and Sport+ modes the valve remains open, with Sport+ adding ECU-controlled burbles. Stock routing directs exhaust through the side mufflers when the valve is closed to reduce cabin noise and drone, and through the center section when open. Because useful independent valve control is limited on this platform, AWE built the Track Edition as a clean, non-valved, straight-through design with no valve hardware or simulators required.

Conversion Kits

The system allows simple switching between Track and Touring Editions, as well as between dual and triple tip configurations, giving flexibility to adjust sound and appearance over time.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
