AWE Touring Edition Non-Resonated Exhaust for G2X BMW M340i & M440i

The AWE Touring Edition Non-Resonated Exhaust for the G2X BMW M340i and BMW M440i is designed to give the B58 inline-six a more open and unfiltered sound while maintaining the Touring Edition’s smooth tonal balance. By removing resonators from the system, it allows for a fuller, more immediate exhaust note that responds more directly to throttle inputs, yet remains controlled enough for daily driving. The system is constructed from T304L stainless steel for durability and engineered as a direct bolt-on, preserving fitment, factory valve operation, and the car’s overall drivability. This approach offers enthusiasts a more connected auditory experience without the extreme volume or harshness of a full track-focused setup.

Touring Edition Exhaust

• The Touring Edition Exhaust blends refined character with aggressive performance, featuring a dual 3” T304L stainless steel downpipe-back layout that delivers near straight-pipe flow while maintaining a smooth, drone-free exhaust note at higher speeds.
• Its stamped stainless steel merge, equivalent to dual 3” tubing, increases total exhaust flow by 65% over stock. After merging, the exhaust splits into dual 3” pipes to optimize airflow along the full system.
• Integrated AWE 180 Technology® manages in-cabin resonance and produces a clean, focused B58 sound.
• As B58 exhaust gases pass through the 180 Technology® resonator, they travel through reflection chambers where sound waves bounce off the walls. By precisely controlling the size and location of ports and chambers, the reflected waves are timed to rejoin the main flow out-of-phase by 180 degrees, canceling unwanted frequencies and producing a pure tone.

What is 180 Technology?

• AWE Tuning’s patented 180 Technology works by directing exhaust gases through a resonator with strategically placed ports that lead into reflection chambers. Sound waves bounce within these chambers, and by carefully controlling the size and location of the ports and chambers, AWE engineers can time when the reflected waves rejoin the main exhaust flow, creating a 180-degree out-of-phase wave that cancels unwanted frequencies.

Exhaust Tips

• Each exhaust system includes three 4.5” double-walled, slash-cut tips, offered in either chrome silver or diamond black, each stamped with the AWE logo. The tips are individually adjustable, allowing precise control over how far they extend into the bumper, so the appearance can be tailored to personal preference without affecting fitment or function.

Nope, It’s Not Valved

• During development, AWE thoroughly studied the factory valve’s behavior across a range of driving conditions. They found that volume changes are minimal between modes where the valve operates. The valve stays closed only in Comfort mode, opening once a throttle threshold is reached. In Sport and Sport+ modes, the valve remains open, with Sport+ adding burbles from the ECU. In stock form, the exhaust is routed through the side mufflers when the valve is closed to reduce cabin volume and minimize drone, and through the center when the valve is open.

Conversion Kits

• AWE designed the system so switching between Track and Touring Editions later on is straightforward, making it easy to adjust interior sound levels as preferences change.

Equipping a downpipe

• For vehicles running the factory downpipe, AWE recommends the non-resonated version of their Touring Edition Exhaust. If the car is equipped with an aftermarket downpipe, the resonated setup is the better match. If you plan to upgrade the downpipe later, switching to resonated mid-sections is straightforward with AWE’s Resonator Conversion Kit.
