The Flow Forming Process

• The process begins by securing a molded wheel to the flow forming drum and applying heat. Hydraulic rollers are then used to exert pressure on the wheel’s barrel, stretching it gradually. The wheel’s material is carefully adjusted to achieve the desired width. By stretching the barrel material, the grain structure of the aluminum is optimized, resulting in a higher-quality and lighter wheel with comparable strength to that achieved through forging.
