The Flow Forming Process

• Flow forming is an advanced technique that enhances the strength of a cast aluminum wheel barrel through controlled stretching and compression of the material while applying heat. The process begins by attaching a cast wheel to the flow forming drum and subjecting it to heat. Hydraulic rollers are then utilized to apply precise pressure at strategic points along the barrel, effectively stretching it to the desired specifications defined by designers or manufacturers. This results in increased width and a lighter yet stronger barrel, reminiscent of those found in forged wheels.
