SOUL Performance refines both the sound and aesthetics of the 987.2 / 981 Boxster and Cayman with its Bolt-On X-Pipe with Slash Cut Single Wall Brushed tips, a direct replacement for the factory “T” tip section that requires no changes to the rear muffler. By swapping the restrictive, turbulence-prone factory merge for a smooth cast T304L stainless X-pipe, this assembly enables exhaust pulses to cross over cleanly for improved flow, a more efficient gas path, and a crisper, sportier exhaust note in both normal and PSE sport modes, with subtle gains in responsiveness and cruising efficiency. The Slash Cut Single Wall tips in Brushed stainless give the rear of the car a purposeful, motorsport-inspired look that still feels OEM-plus, and will naturally develop a warm golden hue over time from heat. Each X-pipe is cast with a smooth, weld-free internal “X” section for durability, leveraging the same design proven on SOUL’s full Boxster / Cayman systems, including record-setting track applications and every unit is fixture-checked, quality-inspected, foam packed for safe delivery, and backed by SOUL Performance’s lifetime warranty for both street and track use.

Development

• The original “T” tip section found in the factory Boxster / Cayman exhaust design leads to turbulence and performance drawbacks as the exhaust gasses collide before exiting the tips. This cost-saving approach hinders efficiency. However, a smoother and more efficient flow path for the exhaust gases is achieved by incorporating a seamless, cast X-pipe into the rear section. This enhancement is expected to slightly increase gas mileage during cruising and improved power during aggressive acceleration. The casting of the X-pipe’s interior ensures a smooth surface without any protrusions from welds. In contrast, non-cast designs may fail at this point due to stress and improper welding techniques. SOUL Performance Products has deliberately decided to offer the most durable X-pipe solution available. These X-sections have been successfully integrated into their full range of Boxster / Cayman exhaust systems, demonstrating exceptional performance (including being utilized on the fastest Boxster to date at Watkins Glen). • A cast T304L stainless steel X-pipe with a smooth inner wall and clean “X” section is employed to optimize flow. Personalize your exhaust according to your preferences by selecting from a variety of options, including single-wall 321 stainless tips (available in slash cut or straight cut), chrome double-wall tips in various finishes, and even titanium single-wall tips, which are not only lightweight but also save nearly a pound compared to stainless steel tips. Every component undergoes thorough quality checks and is meticulously tested in a fixture to ensure proper fitment. To guarantee its pristine condition upon arrival, each item is carefully foam packed.
