Development & Testing

• To prevent the 987.2 Cayman / Boxster from being overshadowed by the performance of the 911, Porsche installs a restrictive and bulky exhaust system, which diminishes the natural power and sound of these vehicles—an outcome that Soul Performance cannot tolerate. In response, they developed the Valved Exhaust system based on their Project 987.2 Cayman S, ensuring a noticeable and refined difference between the exhaust modes, even when paired with aftermarket headers. Through dyno testing on a Dynojet, they achieved maximum gains of 8whp and 11ft-lbs of torque at 4,100 RPM when combined with their Long Tube Street Headers on the SOUL project Cayman S. This exhaust system is currently used on their daily driven Cayman S and consistently tested on their Project Cayman R during track sessions. Aftermarket hangers and supports for Boxster/Cayman exhaust systems are often prone to cracking and failure. To address this, SOUL Performance has reinforced brackets that prevent any damage during extended street use and track days, ensuring durability and reliability.

Construction

• Each exhaust system is expertly crafted using mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel tubing, which includes 2.5″ OD over axle pipes for optimal performance. The mufflers are built with fortified casings, prioritizing durability and longevity. When the valves are closed, the exhaust gases are directed into the SOUL muffler, which is packed with high-quality sound-deadening material designed to withstand abuse and resist blowouts over time. These mufflers are remarkably effective at reducing drones, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable driving experience. The exhaust gases pass through the muffler and exit through perforations into the outer piping. When the valves are open, the exhaust gases are free to exit through the large 2.5″ piping. At the same time, the perforations enable interaction between the exhaust gases and the muffler, resulting in a fuller and more robust tone. A wide range of options are available for the exhaust tips, including various styles and finishes made from 321 stainless steel. Additionally, titanium single-wall tips are also offered, providing a weight reduction of nearly a pound compared to the stainless steel tips.

Bolt-On & Go

• Every exhaust undergoes meticulous testing in a fixture to ensure impeccable fitment, and it is then carefully foam packed to ensure it arrives in perfect condition. Additionally, new high-grade hardware is explicitly included for the header to exhaust flanges, ensuring secure and reliable connections. Thorough installation instructions are included in the package, making the installation process straightforward and easily manageable for most DIY enthusiasts.
