Development & Testing

• To prevent the 987.2 Cayman / Boxster from overshadowing the performance of the 911, Porsche installs a restrictive and bulky exhaust system that compromises the natural power and sound of these models—an unacceptable compromise according to Soul Performance. In response, they developed the Valved Exhaust system using their own Project 987.2 Cayman S, ensuring a noticeable and refined distinction between exhaust modes, even when combined with aftermarket headers. During dyno testing on a Dynojet, they achieved maximum gains of 8 whp and 11 ft-lbs of torque at 4,100 RPM when paired with their Long Tube Street Headers on the SOUL project Cayman S. Currently, this exhaust system is used on their daily driven Cayman S and consistently tested on their Project Cayman R. Aftermarket exhaust hangers and supports for Boxster/Cayman models are prone to cracking and failure. To address this, SOUL Performance has reinforced brackets to prevent damage during prolonged street use and track days.

Construction

• Each exhaust system is meticulously crafted using mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel tubing, incorporating 2.5″ OD over axle pipes for optimal performance. The mufflers are specifically designed with fortified casings to ensure long-lasting durability. When the valves are closed, the exhaust gases are directed into the SOUL muffler, equipped with high-quality sound-deadening material engineered to withstand rigorous use without compromising performance over time. The mufflers effectively minimize drones, delivering a smooth and pleasant driving experience. The exhaust gases pass through the muffler and exit through perforations into the outer piping. When the valves are open, the exhaust gases are able to freely exit through the large 2.5″ piping. At the same time, the perforations enable interaction between the exhaust gases and the muffler, resulting in a fuller and more robust tone. A wide range of options are available for the exhaust tips, including various styles and finishes made from 321 stainless steel. Additionally, titanium single-wall tips are also offered, providing a weight reduction of nearly a pound compared to the stainless steel tips.

• Every exhaust undergoes meticulous testing in a dedicated fixture to guarantee precise fitment, and it is then carefully foam packed to ensure it arrives in flawless condition. Additionally, new high-grade hardware is provided specifically for the header to exhaust flanges, ensuring secure and reliable connections. Thorough installation instructions are included in the package, making the installation process straightforward and easily manageable for most DIY enthusiasts.
