With valves closed, exhaust gases are routed through a bespoke SOUL chambered muffler featuring an internal X-pipe, carefully engineered to increase tone and presence inside the cabin while keeping drone in check for comfortable highway cruising. Open the valves and flow is directed through freer-flowing 2.5″ piping for a thunderous, higher-pitched roar that suits the Urus’ super-SUV performance, with secondary flow through the muffler and X-pipe smoothing rasp and sharpening the exhaust note. Each system is built in-house at SOUL’s Willow Grove, Pennsylvania facility from thick-wall .065″ T304L stainless steel, using mandrel bends, back-purged TIG welds with ARCAL Prime argon, and robust aluminum fixtures to ensure repeatable fitment, durability, and a modest weight savings over the factory rear section. Development Goals

Research & Development

• When the valves are closed, the exhaust system is directed through a specially crafted SOUL-chambered muffler, which incorporates an internal X-Pipe to meet their desired sound objectives. This unique muffler design reflects their renowned expertise in creating mufflers that effectively combat drone issues, as seen in the Porsche community. While they also tested a more traditional perforated core muffler design, the carefully engineered chambers of the final muffler deliver a more aggressive sound during acceleration and deceleration while minimizing undesirable tones.
• With the valves open, the exhaust flow freely passes through 2.5″ piping, resulting in a thunderous roar. The muffler and X-Pipe facilitate secondary flow, reducing raspiness and refining the exhaust note, producing a higher-pitched, more polished sound. Consequently, two distinct and enjoyable sound modes are achieved, a mild option and a wild one.

Construction

• Every exhaust system is meticulously crafted in-house, utilizing mandrel bent, thick-walled .065″ T304L stainless steel. The welding process employs back purged TIG welding with ARCAL Prime argon gas to guarantee proper weld penetration and long-lasting durability. To maintain precision fitment, they employ robust aluminum fixtures of substantial gauge, which also serve as effective heat sinks during welding, preventing warping not only of their products but also the fixtures themselves. Prior to shipping, each system undergoes a thorough quality check and is meticulously packed in foam to ensure flawless condition upon arrival. Installation necessitates cutting the original exhaust, but worry not, as comprehensive installation instructions are included in the package. These instructions are designed to facilitate a straightforward installation process that can be undertaken by most DIY enthusiasts.
