The Eventuri Black Carbon Intake System for F Chassis BMW M140i, M240i, and M340i showcases Eventuri’s renowned “Complete System” design philosophy. This intake system strikes the perfect balance between maximum airflow and optimal temperature management. Featuring an open filter housing that promotes unrestricted airflow, it also maintains low intake air temperatures (IAT) through the use of meticulously crafted cold air scoops and dual-layer heat shields. Each component, from the prepreg carbon fiber elements to the precision-engineered heat shielding, is designed to enhance both performance and aesthetics, setting a new standard for the B58 platform in terms of design and craftsmanship.

The Eventuri Difference

• The B58 Eventuri system features Eventuri’s patented carbon fiber housing, providing an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the turbo. This design goes beyond a standard cone filter with a heat shield by invoking the Venturi effect to maintain laminar airflow, which reduces drag on the turbo and optimizes performance.

Carbon Intake Housing Assembly

• The intake housing includes a high-flow filter, aluminum cowl, laser-cut bracket, carbon heat shroud, and carbon pod that integrates the MAF sensor and turbo tube. The carbon pod houses a reverse-mounted filter and shapes the airflow smoothly down to the MAF intake tube. This smooth transition in cross-sectional area creates the Venturi effect, accelerating airflow while maintaining laminar conditions. The design functions like a large velocity stack, integrating the carbon filter housing and inlet tube as one continuous piece, minimizing internal interfaces and promoting smoother airflow to the turbo. The tube’s diameter transitions smoothly from the MAF sensor to the larger turbo inlet, ensuring efficient air delivery.

Carbon Heat Shroud

• The carbon filter housing is paired with a carbon heat shroud and an additional aluminum shield to prevent convective heat from the exhaust manifold from affecting the filter. This, combined with double-layered heat shields, creates an effective cold air area around the filter opening, enhancing performance by reducing heat soak.

Carbon Fiber Intake Scoop

• The intake scoop is designed for maximum efficiency, directing incoming air to the stock duct openings. Unlike other aftermarket scoops with flat, perpendicular surfaces that cause turbulence, Eventuri’s scoop sits directly behind the front grille and features a continuous curve to channel airflow smoothly into the ducts. This design ensures an efficient cold air feed to the filter, which is critical for maintaining low inlet temperatures, especially in an engine bay where heat from the exhaust manifold can easily saturate the intake.

Main Heat Shield

• Significant attention was given to the main heat shield, as the intake is positioned next to the exhaust manifold. The double-layer shield features a silver finish on the exhaust side to reflect radiant heat, while the black layer on the intake side absorbs it. The air gap between these layers acts as an insulator, preventing conductive heat transfer. Testing showed a temperature drop of over 90°C across the shield, effectively keeping inlet air temperatures low during operation.

Secondary Heat Shield

• The secondary shield is mounted above the exhaust manifold and wraps around the turbo inlet to prevent direct heat saturation. Like the main shield, it utilizes a double-layer design with a silver layer on the exhaust side and a black layer on the intake side, ensuring optimal heat protection for the turbo inlet.
