Does the Suspension Bush Set for AP2 fit a 2004 or 2005 US S2000?

Yes. Those cars carry the AP1 chassis code but share the later suspension, and Spoon builds the Suspension Bush Set for AP2 for every car from AP1-130 onward. Go Tuning sells it for 2004 to 2009 model year US cars. Earlier 2000 to 2003 cars need part 51359-AP1-000.

What does the set include?

Spoon describes it as a set for one complete car, and since January 2016 it has included the rear upper arm bushings as well. Spoon does not publish a position-by-position list for this part number, and the bushings are not sold separately.

How does it compare with the factory bushings?

The Spoon pieces are stiffer and are made as direct replacements, so they slot into the factory arms without modification. The car responds sooner to steering and holds alignment more tightly under load. Expect a little more road feel through the cabin than with new factory rubber.

Should I replace the bushings or the whole arms?

On most late cars the arms themselves are fine and only the rubber has aged, so renewing the bushings is the more economical route. Replacing the arms makes sense if they are bent or corroded. A shop can judge this once the arms are off.

How long does the job take?

Plan on a full day or more at a shop. Each arm comes off the car, the old bushings are pressed out and the new ones pressed in, and the suspension goes back together before an alignment. Doing it alongside new dampers or springs saves labour.

Description

Spoon Sports Suspension Bush Set for AP2 / AP1 Honda S2000 (2004-2009)

The Spoon Sports Suspension Bush Set for AP2 and late AP1 Honda S2000 is a one-car set for roadsters Spoon codes AP1-130 onward, from the October 2003 facelift through the final AP2 in 2009. In US terms that is every 2004 to 2009 model year car, including the 2004 and 2005 cars that kept the AP1 chassis code with the 2.2L engine. Later S2000s received revised suspension geometry and quicker steering from Honda, and stiffer bushings let that chassis express itself without the arms moving around under load. Spoon fits direct-replacement pieces in place of the factory bushings, cutting play so the car turns in cleanly and holds its line over mid-corner bumps. In January 2016 Spoon added the rear upper arm bushings to this set, and the price changed with it. It suits an owner renewing a high-mileage late car or preparing one for the circuit.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
