The Dedicated Track kit runs much stiffer Swift springs at 120 N/mm front and 180 N/mm rear, spherical front upper mounts, polyurethane rear upper mounts and 20 clicks of damping adjustment, and Öhlins sells it for off-road use only. The Road and Track kit keeps the original BMW top mounts, uses 60 and 120 N/mm springs and is built for street and track use.

Do I need the EDC cancellation kit?

Only on cars with factory EDC electronic dampers. Öhlins lists cancellation kit 35020-04 for the E9X M3 to prevent fault codes once the electronic dampers come out. Cars on passive dampers do not need it.

Öhlins’ DFV Dedicated Track Coilovers for E9X BMW M3 models, kit BMU MU40S1, are the track version of Öhlins’ E9X M3 suspension, built for the 2008 to 2013 E90 sedan and E92 coupe. Öhlins tunes the kit so it can be installed and taken to the circuit with minimal setup or testing, and on the standard settings the car sits about 15 mm lower at the front and 10 mm lower at the rear. Öhlins sells it for off-road use only; a car that also sees regular street miles is better served by the Road & Track kit.

Design and Performance

The Dual Flow Valve lets one adjuster per damper change compression and rebound together across 20 clicks. The front struts are strengthened upside-down monotubes with spherical upper mounts, and the rear shock absorbers are aluminum-body monotubes with polyurethane upper mounts. Swift builds the springs to Öhlins specifications at 120 N/mm front and 180 N/mm rear, well above the 60 and 120 N/mm rates of the Öhlins Road & Track kit for the same car.
